Egypt and Switzerland mark 90-years anniversary of Friendship Treaty

Cairo, Egypt* –  In front of the Pyramids of Giza, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Egyptian Tourism Authority, the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt organized a reception on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Egypt and Switzerland, in the presence of Ambassador Yvonne Baumann, Ambassador of Switzerland to Egypt, and Mr. Amr El Kady, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, during which they revealed a giant fresco of 900 square meters created by the Swiss-based artist Saype that symbolizes the friendship between the two people. 


Switzerland’s contribution to the humanitarian response in Gaza

Cairo, Egypt –  In response to the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Switzerland has allocated an additional CHF 90 million (close to USD 102 million) in humanitarian aid: CHF 81 million is earmarked for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and CHF 9 million for the region, including Egypt.


President of the Swiss Confederation opens SwissCham Pavillion and "swisstech" exhibition at COP27

Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt – On 7 November, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, opened the SwissCham Pavilion and the "swisstech" exhibition on the Swiss cleantech sector at COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh. He was accompanied by two members of the Swiss parliament, National Councillor Marco Romano and National Councillor Maja Riniker. The inauguration took place in the presence of representatives of the United Nations and the Egyptian government, members of SwissCham Egypt and its Board of Directors, as well as representatives from Swiss companies.

Swiss Run for a Cause - #CHvsCovid19

The aim of the run was to raise awareness about the current global hardships and contribute to the indispensable efforts exerted by NGOs and CSOs in mitigating the impact of the Covid19 pandemic in Egypt. Sport is considered a great vehicle for human and positive values, such as solidarity, social inclusion, a healthy lifestyle, especially in times where healthcare is of paramount importance.


Switzerland extends project to boost Egypt’s e-waste recycling industry

Cairo, Egypt - Switzerland and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have agreed to extend the Sustainable Recycling Industries (SRI) project in Egypt, originally launched in 2016 and completed in 2018, through an additional grant contribution of 1.2 million CHF for the period 2020-2023.
