Academic Internship
Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, Political Section/Economy and Finance Section
The Embassy of Switzerland in Japan is offering an academic internship for 6 months, starting 1 March 2026. This position provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the world of diplomacy and international relations.
Required qualifications and skills:
- University graduate, preferably with a degree in international relations, political science, area studies, economics or another relevant field
- Languages: Native-level language skills in German, French or Italian with very good knowledge of a second official language of Switzerland and excellent command of English; knowledge of Japanese is an advantage
- IT-Skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
- Personality: Proactive, open-minded, flexible and diligent, with strong research, writing and oral communication skills
Conditions for eligibility:
- Graduation (BA or MA) from university after 1 March 2025
- Total duration of past internships within the Swiss federal administration does not exceed six months
- Candidates who currently reside in Switzerland are welcome to apply (the Embassy does not reimburse travel cost)
- Employment is contingent on obtaining a visa from the Japanese authorities
We offer:
- Active contribution to the diplomatic tasks of the Embassy in the political and economic domain, including research, reporting as well as preparation and participation in meetings
- Participation in the preparation and implementation of a diverse set of events and projects
- Work experience in an international and multicultural environment in central Tokyo
- Monthly pay
