Promoting private sector employment

Thanks to Swiss support, Kosovo young women entrepreneurs are cultivating and exporting organic products, thus having a positive impact particularly on women employment. Last year only, Switzerland contributed to creating 600 new jobs in the Food and Natural Ingredients and Tourism sectors.

Integrated Water Resource Management Programe in Kosovo

The recently accredited academic programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to become leaders of the sector in the future.

Waste Water Treatment Plant inaugurated in Gjakova

Switzerland continues to support the water sector in Kosovo. Initiated jointly with the German and Kosovo governments, the 8 million euros Swiss investment has enabled the construction of the wastewater treatment plant of Gjakova as well as the replacement and repairs of the sewage network which will directly benefit the citizens of Gjakova, whilst also contribute to the long-term protection of water sources in Kosovo and Albania.

On 9 May, FDFA State Secretary Livia Leu held political consultations in Bern with Kosovo's Deputy Foreign Minister Kreshnik Ahmeti. The meeting focused on bilateral matters, the relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Swiss support for the EU normalisation process between the two countries and the implications for the Western Balkans of the war against Ukraine.
