As the official representation of Switzerland, the embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the governments of the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, legal arrangements, science, education and culture.

The embassy supports cooperation between the Swiss and Kosovar authorities, monitors political and economic developments and reports on issues of relevance to Switzerland. Bilateral meetings organised by the embassy serve to strengthen relations between Switzerland and the host state.

In keeping with Switzerland’s commitment to human security, the embassy in Kosovo implements programmes and projects to promote peace and human rights. Switzerland is particularly active in promoting political dialogue, dealing with the past, strengthening democratic institutions and humanitarian demining operations.

In order to promote Switzerland’s economic interests, the embassy engages in exchanges with the principal economic players, investors and business representatives, provides them with information on the economy of the host state and, upon request, puts them in touch with local authorities.

In the field of education, the embassy facilitates contacts between educational institutions in Switzerland and Kosovo when requested to do so. It also supports Swiss students and Kosovar university graduates who wish to apply for a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.

In the cultural arena, the embassy seeks to further mutual understanding and implements Switzerland’s cultural policy. It also strengthens contacts between Swiss and Kosovar cultural institutions and artists and provides, for example, support for Swiss artists who wish to present their work in Kosovo. The embassy organises and supports various cultural events in order to help raise the profile of Swiss artists and build bridges between different cultures. In addition, the embassy can use a credit for small action grants to provide modest financial support for cultural and other projects carried out by local organisations in Kosovo.

With regard to the media, the embassy acts as an interface between the Swiss government and the national and international media in the host country. It also supports the work of Swiss journalists who cover Kosovo for Swiss media outlets.
