Exhibition to mark the 25th anniversary of Kyrgyz-Swiss development cooperation

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland, the Swiss Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic invites its partners and the larger public to the Multimedia Exhibition “Kyrgyz-Swiss Blue Pass” from 27 to 28 of September in the Hangar multi-media center.

Francophonie week 2019 in Bishkek

The French Alliance in Bishkek, jointly with the Embassies of France, Switzerland, Belgium and the Delegation of the European Union are happy to announce the week of the Francophonie, which will be held from March 11  to 16, 2019 in Bishkek.

Switzerland to contribute € 2 million to Environmental Remediation Account

On 8 November 2018, a donor conference was held in London at the Headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) related to the international environmental remediation program for Central Asia led by the European Union. During the meeting the direct affected countries Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan stressed the need of urgent actions inter alia to halt the spread of pollution into the bread basket in Central Asia where 14 million people are living. They asked for financial support from the international community.

Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann on economic mission to the Caucasus and Central Asia from 8 to 16 July

Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann will travel to the South Caucasus and Central Asia from 8 to 16 July, heading a sizeable 35-strong delegation including representatives from parliament, cantonal governments and the private sector. The economic mission will take in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The aim is to identify business opportunities for Swiss firms under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, to foster relations with member countries of Switzerland’s constituency in the international financial institutions (World Bank, IMF, EBRD) and to highlight Switzerland’s development cooperation programmes (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Azerbaijan). A number of declarations of intent and memorandums are expected to be signed during the mission (Kazakhstan).
