Dear Visitor,
I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Maputo. I arrived in Mozambique in September 2025, a country where I have previously worked: first in Northern Mozambique from 1993 to 1994 with ICRC, and later with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Maputo from 2002 to 2006. Mozambique has experienced considerable changes over the past decades.
Switzerland’s engagement in Mozambique covers a wide range of activities. We pursue to intensify bilateral relations, provide services to Swiss citizens, encourage commercial and economic links in partnership with the Mozambican-Swiss chamber of commerce, and support development and humanitarian programs. Over time, our cooperation has adapted to the country’s evolving priorities, covering now governance, decentralization, climate-resilient basic services, as well as broader social and economic development, with a focus on Norther Mozambique.
Mozambique remains a priority country for Switzerland’s development and humanitarian support. We work with Mozambican authorities, civil society, private sector and local communities to promote sustainable development, peace, and stability. Switzerland’s role in supporting the 2019 Maputo peace accord is one example of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and the protection of human rights.
This website provides information about Switzerland and Mozambique, our bilateral relations, and the services of the Regional Consular Centre in Pretoria. To follow our activities more closely, I invite you to connect with us on Facebook and SwissInTouch.
We welcome your questions and comments, and I look forward to exchanges in Maputo and throughout the country.
Yours sincerely,
Nicolas Randin
Ambassador of Switzerland to Mozambique
