Return to Switzerland
The coronavirus is a worldwide pandemic. The Federal Council therefore advises against non-urgent travel abroad until further notice and calls on or recommends Swiss tourists abroad to return to Switzerland. The longer they wait to return, the more difficult it will be for them to do so because many countries have entry restrictions and airlines are reducing their services. The regulations vary from one country to another and are constantly changing.
The Migration Office communicated the following to the Swiss Embassy:
Tourists and short term resident must avoid being in an illegal status in Mozambique.
Before the expiry of the visa, it is possible to send a written request for a visa extension, stating the reasons (COVID-19, cancellation of flights…), relevant information e.g. visa number, date and port of entry, passport copy must be attached, as well as quarantine medical documentation, if received when entering Mozambique.
Each request will be examined individually.
The Embassy in Maputo can assist you in transmitting the documents, if necessary.
