Warm welcome to the website of the Swiss Embassy in Skopje.
I recently arrived in North Macedonia and was immediately touched by the incredible hospitality and kindness of its people, by the cultural diversity of the country, by the beauty of its nature and by its exquisite cuisine and wines.
Switzerland recognized North Macedonia in 1993 and since then, relations between the two countries have intensified and developed in a strong partnership, based on mutual respect and trust.
The two countries' relations are underpinned by Switzerland's significant engagement in development cooperation and the large diaspora from the Republic of North Macedonia living in Switzerland.
Through its Cooperation Programme, Switzerland is promoting sustainable and inclusive development in the Republic of North Macedonia. The priority of the Swiss cooperation program is to support reform processes in the field employment and sustainable economic development, sustainable public utilities and environment as well as inclusive democratic governance.
People-to-people relations between the two countries are strong. A large diaspora with origins from North Macedonia live in Switzerland and contribute to enhance the prosperity of both countries. Regular cultural exchanges are also supported by the Swiss Embassy.
The economic relations between Switzerland and North Macedonia have potential for significant growth.
The Swiss Embassy team is committed to further strengthening the excellent relations between our two countries in the political, economic, social, environmental and cultural fields.
