Safeguard Young People programme officially launched in Tanzania

On 4 April, the Safeguard Young People (SYP) programme was officially launched in Dar es Salaam. Switzerland will contribute CHF 3 million (TZS 7.5 billion) over a period of three years to improve the health and wellbeing of adolescents and young people in Tanzania. 



Francophonie Days 2022

On the occasion of the 2022 edition of Les Jours de la Francophonie (Days of Francophonie), 13 diplomatic missions in Dar es Salaam, members of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), organised various events between 9 and 26 March. The events aimed at celebrating the French Language and the values of OIF e.g. peace, human rights, democracy and education.

Swiss Ambassador visits the Skills for Employment Tanzania project

On 17 June, Ambassador Didier Chassot visited the Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) project in Morogoro Region together with Senior Programme Officer – Employment and Income Marloes Philippo from the Embassy of Switzerland. The delegation, which also comprised the Head of Consular Affairs Claude Voutat, was hosted by Swisscontact, the main project implementing partner.


The Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) project enters new phase

With support from the Swiss and Danish embassies, SNV Tanzania launched the second phase of its Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) Project on Friday 21st May at a virtual event. The project is designed to equip young people with the appropriate technical and life skills to make them attractive to employers and prepared to undertake self-employment, entrepreneurial activities. OYE promotes economic resilience in young people, connecting them with meaningful employment opportunities in markets that provide them with a realistic chance to improve their lives.


Swiss Ambassador pays courtesy call on Foreign Minister

The Ambassador of Switzerland to Tanzania, Didier Chassot, paid a courtesy call on the new Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, on 18 May in Dar es Salaam. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation and further strengthening exchanges.


Ambassador Didier Chassot meets President Hussein Ali Mwinyi

The Ambassador of Switzerland to Tanzania, Didier Chassot, met with the President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, H.E. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, for a courtesy visit on 27 April. The meeting was a good occasion to discuss ongoing cooperation between the two countries and explore opportunities for future collaboration. 


Switzerland celebrates Francophonie in Dar es Salaam
