The Political Section is responsible for the bilateral relationship between Switzerland and the UK. The team monitors developments in UK domestic politics and external policies and informs Swiss authorities about the political decisions and policy trends that are of relevance for Switzerland.
Following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, the Political Section has been closely following developments in this process as the decision has consequences for Switzerland’s close relationship with the UK, a relationship that Switzerland is keen to maintain and develop.
The Section also represents Swiss interests to the British authorities and liaises with them on matters of common interest and shared foreign policy priorities, such as multilateral affairs, the promotion of human rights, or environmental matters.
