The Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York is seeking a skilled and motivated candidate for the position of “Domestic Household Manager/Housekeeper” to manage and maintain the residence of the Ambassador, beginning on 1 June 2026.
Job description
The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible, and highly organized, with prior experience managing a high-profile or diplomatic household. Excellent command of English is required. The role demands discretion, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure all areas of the residence are consistently clean, organized, and well-maintained, including inter alia vacuuming, dusting, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning windows (inside only) etc.
- Domestic household duties such as laundry, changing linens, ironing etc.
- Complete any other assigned cleaning task.
- Shop for groceries and household supplies.
- Cooking and preparing meals.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate events hosted at the residence.
- Manage household calendar, schedules, and appointments.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise home maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain household inventory, manage orders, and coordinate deliveries.
- Assist with administrative tasks and any other duties as required to support the smooth operation of the household.
Skills required
- Proven experience in managing high-end households or estates.
- Strong experience in domestic household duties including cleaning and cooking.
- Proven organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
- Discretion, reliability, and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
- Ability to anticipate the needs of the family and proactively solve problems.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and requirements.

Job description
As Executive Assistant to the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations, you will ensure the efficient organization and smooth functioning of the Ambassador’s office. You will manage the Ambassador’s agenda, coordinate official travel, support high-level visits, and handle invitations and protocol-related matters.
You will organize meetings and events at the Mission and at the Ambassador’s Residence, coordinate transportation arrangements, process administrative documentation, and assist in preparing correspondence and diplomatic notes.
The position also involves maintaining contacts with other UN Missions, the United Nations administration, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern, and other Swiss and foreign representations. You will serve as the primary point of contact for communications addressed to the Ambassador and liaise with the Mission’s management team and the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York.
The role requires excellent organizational skills, discretion, reliability, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic diplomatic environment. Experience with diplomatic protocol and familiarity with UN procedures are considered strong assets. Preference will be given to candidates who hold Swiss citizenship or have a strong and long-standing relationship with Switzerland. This is a locally recruited position with employment conditions based on local practices applicable to employees hired in the United States.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage the Ambassador’s calendar, schedule meetings and ensure the smooth coordination of daily activities
- Coordinate official visits, high-level meetings, and diplomatic events involving the Ambassador
- Plan and organize receptions, meetings, and official events at the Mission and at the Ambassador’s Residence or other locations, including logistics and catering arrangements.
- Prepare and manage invitations, guest lists, and protocol arrangements for official functions
- Organize and coordinate the Ambassador’s official travel, including logistics, itineraries, and travel documentation
- Coordinate the Ambassador’s driver assignments
- Draft and format diplomatic notes, official correspondence, and administrative documents
- Process expense reports and manage administrative and financial documentation related to the Ambassador’s activities.
- Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external communications addressed to the Ambassador
- Maintain regular contacts with other UN Missions, the UN Secretariat, and diplomatic protocol services
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills required
- Several years of employment experience in a diplomatic, international or related fields
- Full computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently and under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of personal integrity, discretion, and reliability
- Flexible, proactive, and capable to take initiatives
- Strong multitasking abilities and attention to details

The Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York represents Switzerland's interests at the UN in accordance with the country's foreign policy objectives and through its work with the main organs of the UN (General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, Security Council) and member states.
Job description
We are looking for a person to support the work of the Military Adviser in both subject matter (ca. 70%) and administrative (ca. 30%) issues. You are familiar with UN peacekeeping and disarmament, have a strong interest in security policy and are highly motivated to work in a challenging, multilateral setting and within the UN framework. You have strong negotiation, analytical and synthesis skills and are comfortable dealing with issues of intellectual complexity, often under time constraints. You like to develop negotiation strategies, pursuing your goals with tenacity and a set of highly developed social skills, including an interest in intercultural exchanges.
You have a Bachelor’s or preferably a Master’s degree in a field relevant to this position, such as international relations, law, public administration or management. Experience within the Swiss federal administration, at a Swiss representation abroad or in a multilateral forum and military service including officer training would be considered an asset.
This is a locally recruited position with employment conditions based on local practices applicable to employees hired in the United States.
Duties and responsibilities
Subject matter issues
- To support the Permanent Mission of Switzerland, in close coordination with the relevant federal offices in Berne, in multilateral matters related to peacekeeping, disarmament and arms control and follow closely related discussions and trends.
- Represent Switzerland's interests in the above-mentioned fields in intergovernmental processes, including negotiations of resolutions in the General Assembly, as well as with the Permanent Missions of other UN Member States, the UN Secretariat and UN organs and entities.
- To elaborate and defend Swiss positions in the framework of negotiations in the above-mentioned bodies and to contribute to interventions and communication elements.
- To gather information, to provide political analysis in the above-mentioned fields, and to write reports on a regular basis.
- To identify opportunities and initiatives for Switzerland in the above-mentioned areas, to participate in meetings and working groups and report on these.
- To substitute for the Military Advisor during his absence.
Administrative tasks
- To organize visits, accompany and support delegations.
- To support the Swiss Armed Forces with the deployment of personnel to Peacekeeping Missions and to UN Headquarters.
- Responsibility for the organization of events, drafting of correspondence and other administrative matters.
Skills and other requirements
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Solid knowledge of international politics and Swiss foreign policy, with a strong interest in security policy, notably peacekeeping and disarmament.
- Experience with multilateral organizations or a solid knowledge of the work of multilateral organizations.
- Great capacity for analysis and synthesis.
- Strong interest in negotiation and ability to work in an intense working environment requiring good resistance to stress and excellent self-management capacities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a flair and ambition to develop professional networks.
- Excellent knowledge of English and an official language of Switzerland, good knowledge of a second official language of Switzerland.
- Swiss citizenship.
- Military service including officer training is an asset.
