Switzerland supports Vietnam in enhancing Trade Policy and Export Promotion

Hà Nội, 22/10/2021 – Switzerland and Vietnam signed today an agreement on the implementation of the Trade Policy and Export Promotion (SwissTrade) project. This project improves trade performance and international competitiveness of SMEs by enhancing the framework conditions for trade, improving public-private dialogue mechanisms, and strengthening the eco-system for trade promotion. The project runs from 2021-2024 with the total budget of CHF 5.627 million (equivalent to VND 148 billion), in which Switzerland’s grant contribution is CHF 5.0 million (around VND 131.5 billion) and the counterpart funding from the Government of Vietnam and beneficiaries amount to CHF 627,000 (around VND 16.5 billion).

HANOI (06 August 2021) – Today, the Vice President of Switzerland, Mr. Ignazio Cassis and Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Nguyễn Chí Dũng, launched the new Cooperation Programme 2021-2024 of Switzerland. The new programme defines the strategic framework for the future economic development cooperation with an aim to support Vietnam in achieving market-based and sustainable growth. It foresees commitments of CHF 70 million (VND 1.8 trillion) of Official Development Assistance (ODA) grants.

Hà Nội, 02/07/2021 - Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) – Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam – Mr. Ivo Sieber signed the bilateral Agreement for the new Swiss Bank Executive Training programme (Swiss BET). The programme is implemented by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and aims to transfer modern banking know-how to Vietnamese bank executives. The programme will run from 2022 to 2027 and Switzerland will provide support with a grant of CHF 5 million (around 125 billion VND).

Postdoctoral scientists, senior scientists and professors of Swiss institutions are eligible to apply for Opportunity Grants on research topics with a link to Vietnam. Such grants aim at increasing the visibility of Swiss science, technology and innovation in Vietnam, whilst fostering collaborations between researchers and research institutions of both countries. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research, including social sciences and humanities.
