Skills Development for Youth Employment – SKYE

The public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Nigeria doesn’t offer its youth a formal qualification sufficient to prepare them for decent jobs in the private sector, resulting in high unemployment and lack of economic perspectives. By contributing to the SKYE project, Switzerland aims to improve the range of active labour market measures by building capacities within the institutions delivering job-matching services and vocational training, also in order to address root causes for migration.

Venezuela Humanitarian Fund (VHF) – Country-based Pooled Fund (CBPF)

The Venezuela Humanitarian Fund (VHF) is part of multilateral contributions for a Country based Pooled Fund (CBPF) that mobilizes and channels resources to humanitarian partners to respond to the humanitarian needs in Venezuela. The Fund operates within the parameters of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), with the objective of expanding the delivery of humanitarian assistance by focusing on critical priorities and needs.


Scale up Social and Impact Entrepreneurship

Social and Impact Enterprises (SIEs) address critical social and environmental challenges while being innovative, and generating positive development impact. For SIEs to thrive, they require an environment with well-functioning Ecosystem Support Organizations (ESOs). Strengthening SIEs and ESOs – with a focus on forcibly displaced persons – is a powerful catalyst for achieving the SDGs, aligning with Switzerland’s interest in contributing to sustainable and inclusive economic growth. 


Assistance on Nuclear Safety and Security by supporting the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Expert Missions to Ukraine

Since Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA’s) Response and Assistance Network (RANET) has provided technical assistance to Ukraine. In January 2023, the IAEA addressed to its Member States, including Switzerland, crucial extra budgetary funding needs amounting to Euro 11.8 Mio for the year 2023. This funding supports the IAEA Experts Missions to Ukraine to ensure nuclear safety and security; mitigates humanitarian protection of human live and health, disaster resilience and environmental protection.

Strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of locally led protection services

Aligned with SDC's strategic fair partnership principles and localization approaches, Switzerland aims to address existing gaps in fostering a locally-led humanitarian response and increase the outreach of protection services to a bigger number of those in need, while enhancing the quality of protection assistance provided to the most vulnerable children in Ukraine. 


Enhanced access of vulnerable populations to healthcare services in conflict-affected areas of Ukraine

SDC will contribute to the provision of vital humanitarian assistance to the hardest-hit areas of southern and eastern Ukraine. The primary objective is to offer free and timely healthcare to those most affected in hard-to-reach areas and to thus improve access to basic health services. Through its partner, SDC will support at least 40 healthcare facilities in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, and Donetsk oblasts, with the focus on primary healthcare services.


Morocco IFRC Emergency Appeal Earthquake 2023

12.09.2023 - 31.12.2026

An earthquake with a 6.8 magnitude shook Morocco on 8 September. This earthquake was the deadliest in Morocco since 2004. At least 3’000 people were killed, mostly in Marrakech and the provinces in the High Atlas Mountains, while another 5’600 were injured. The SDC will support the victims of the earthquake with a contribution to the IFRC Appeal.

Morocco SET Earthquake September 2023

09.09.2023 - 15.10.2023

Following a severe earthquake near Marrakech of a magnitude of 6.8 which caused over 2’000 casualties, numerous injured as well as tremendous destruction, humanitarian assistance will be provided to the affected population under the form of 1) deployment of a “SofortEinsatzTeam / SET”; 2) in-kind donations. Decisions on optimum use of funds will be taken by the Crisis Cell led by the HA delegate in close coordination with desk and CH representation in the country.

Mozambique Humanitarian Aid UNICEF WASH Preparedness 2023

Through UNICEF country program support, Switzerland contributes to integrated climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and preparedness in the WASH sector for communities at risk of cyclonic events. The program focuses on communities facing the triple risk of lacking access to WASH while being exposed to climate-related and health-related hazards. In addition, UNICEF program will respond to specific gaps in the emergency response at national and sub-national levels and prepare the WASH sector for a joint and systematic approach to climate change. 


Culture Programme Mozambique

01.09.2023 - 31.08.2027

Switzerland will promote a more professional cultural sector and give emerging young artists the opportunity to improve their skills and expand their national and international networks. By working with 1 cultural centre in Maputo and 2 cultural institutions in the conflict-ridden province of Cabo Delgado, art and culture will also be used as a vector for social cohesion and peace, including the much-needed exchange between the south and north of Mozambique.

Integrated assistance to the vulnerable population affected by migration in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru

01.09.2023 - 31.03.2025

The humanitarian situation in Venezuela continues to be critical, as well as the migration crisis of Venezuelans in the region, with more than 7 million Venezuelans abroad. High rates of cross-border mobility are registered with pendular migrants, travellers, returnees and unaccompanied minors. In this project, CISP will provide comprehensive assistance to vulnerable people in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and also Peru with a special focus on protection, WASH, health and livelihoods.

Cameroun Sécurisation de l’hôpital Helvétique de Mada

Depuis 2014, l’Extrême-Nord du Cameroun connaît un conflit armé, qui oppose les pays du bassin du lac Tchad aux Groupes Armés Non-Etatiques. L'hôpital Helvétique de Mada est un des rares infrastructures qui est encore capable s'offrir des services médicaux dans cette région. Le projet pour la sécurisation permet à l'hôpital de continuer son travail, même dans des conditions difficiles.
