Switzerland supports the work of the Access Support Unit (ASU) – the UN body that facilities humanitarian access for people and goods in dialogue with relevant authorities in a critical moment. It supports the timely and safe delivery of humanitarian and development assistance and is to direct benefit of Switzerland’s activities in the oPt.

FSD Mine and UXO clearance in Kharkiv and Kherson Oblasts (MUCKKO)

This project of FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage) deploys the full range of mine action activities, which enables to identify the level of risks in suspected areas, clear unexploded ordnance (UXOs) and mines, and minimize the risks for the population thanks to targeted awareness sessions. It builds on the first FDFA-supported intervention in Kharkiv oblast and extends to the recently liberated Kherson oblast, equally affected by weapon contamination.

PlantwisePlus is a global programme that is supporting countries and farmers to predict, prevent and prepare themselves for plant health threats in a changing climate. Tchad IOM Contribution Sudan crisis 2023

This contribution aims at supporting IOM’s response to the needs of Chadian returnees having fled Sudan. IOM’s emergency response supports the returnees’ households through a nexus approach, which combines emergency humanitarian assistance (shelter, NFIs, etc,) and livelihood support to reduce their dependency on humanitarian assistance, therefore contributing to local and more sustainable development.

Switzerland will contribute to good governance of land in Niassa province through strategic partners, who will provide technical assistance to local authorities in land registration, help ensure that the use of land and natural resources benefits the local population, and advocate for a legal system that protects the rights of the local population to the use of land and natural resources, based on Mozambican legislation and international best practices.

OCHA Humanitarian Forum Sudan Crisis

Following the outbreak of violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) millions of Sudanese face dire humanitarian needs. The warring parties committed in Jeddah on 7th November to improve the safe and unhindered humanitarian access to persons in need. As part of this commitment, the RSF and the SAF agreed to participate in an OCHA led Humanitarian Forum to work out the operational details.
