After a year and a half of full-scale Russian aggression, the Swiss Humanitarian Aid continues to coordinate and implement different small-scale humanitarian projects to directly support vulnerable residents, returnees and internal displaced people (IDPs) in war-affected territories of Ukraine. Complementary to this, tons of Swiss humanitarian relief items are donated and regularly delivered in Ukraine to respond to pressing humanitarian needs.
Global solutions for migration-related challenges

Switzerland has a strong interest in multilateral migration processes that are inclusive and that take into account local actors, in particular migrant (women) voices, to foster an enabling environment for migrants to effectively contribute to sustainable development. Switzerland supports multi-stakeholder involvement in global processes on migration and pilots innovative, locally-led solutions that are brought to the global level.
Ashshash – for men and women who have escaped trafficking

Switzerland has an interest in ensuring that international migration is regular, secure, and respects human dignity and the rights of migrants. The programme will support men and women who have escaped trafficking to reintegrate into society, raise awareness on the perils of irregular migration and improve public and private capacities to deliver services to victims of trafficking. The intervention contributes to Switzerland’s political dialogue on safe, orderly and regular migration at the global level.
Green Economy and Sustainable Private Sector Development

Project supports transition towards green economy, in particular in tourism and agriculture sectors. With the generous financial support provided by the Swiss and German Governments as well as the European Union (joined for the first time as co-donor), international implementing agency (GIZ) will address challenges in above sectors through improved policy framework in green economy and practices. Transforming economy towards sustainability will also create new and decent jobs.
Protection Centred Humanitarian Assistance in Frontline Areas of Ukraine

Swizerland plans to support the capacities of the NGO Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in the provision of lifesaving protection and basic multi-sectorial assistance to vulnerable populations and survivors of protection violations in front-line areas of Ukraine. Emergency assistance is provided after displacement, to cover unmet needs of evacuees and to conflict affected populations after shelling in the form of cash and material support, protection services, psychosocial and legal assistance.
Myanmar - Joint Peace Fund (JPF)

The conflict in Myanmar is the world's longest ongoing civil war, having lasted more than seven decades. As there is no development without peace, Switzerland supports the Joint Peace Fund (JPF), a multi-donor fund, for joint action on the peace process launched in 2016. Following the military coup where levels of conflict have risen exponentially, the fund focuses on conflict transformation rather than peace and prepare stakeholders to engage in dialogue and negotiations.
Enhancing Climate Resilience of Vulnerable Communities and Ecosystems in South Sudan

Local authorities and communities will be strengthened in their technical and managerial capacities to reduce people’s livelihood exposure, vulnerability and resilience to floods and drought thus increasing food production and reduce food insecurity as well as displacement of people and competition over natural resources. This will be achieved through improved communication, coordination and knowledge-sharing, early warning systems and appropriate legislation.

Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia

The Climate Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia project strengthens national and regional organisations responsible for water resource management in Central Asia to implement climate-sensitive integrated water resources management in a regionally coordinated manner. MOZ HA SI Nexus Water Supply System CD

To address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Cabo Delgado Province in northern Mozambique, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will support the provision and improvement of basic water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, more specifically the N’tamba Water Supply System Network (NWSSN) rehabilitation, ensuring resilient infrastructure for internally displaced and resident population.

Nigeria’s Northwest region has the highest rate of food insecurity and malnutrition in the country, with more than half of local government areas classified as food insecure and nearly 3.9 million children aged 0-59 months expected to suffer from acute malnutrition by April 2023. With this contribution, the SDC supports Action Contre la Faim to provide life-saving nutrition and WASH services to reduce morbidity and mortality attributed to acute malnutrition in Northwest Nigeria.
Vocational Training in Sri Lanka (VTSL)

The effects of the crisis in Sri Lanka had negative effects on the vocational training sector and are strongly affecting the country’s population and its access to work. On the basis of the Swiss - Sri Lankan migration partnership, the proposed project will improve the quality of vocational training, make it accessible to young women and men from rural areas, members of minorities, and people with disabilities in Sri Lanka in line with the market’s demand.
