Contribution to implementation of SCTM Strategic Plan

This contribution will support the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) to implement its cross-sectoral strategic plan, promoting decentralization, good governance and local governance reforms and assisting the implementation of the Serbian Government’s Local Government Reform Programme. SCTM will improve capacities of local governments (LG) to act efficiently, accountably, in the best interest of citizens, and defend LG interests at the central level.


UNDP: Area-based Support to Strengthen Resilience in Myanmar

Myanmar is in a protracted crisis situation; this project adopts a nexus approach combining humanitarian, development and peace interventions to address long-term challenges and achieve sustainable results. Through its partnership with UNDP, Switzerland will strengthen the capacities of vulnerable communities, enabling them to meet their basic needs, recover from external shocks, and promote their resilience.

Contribution 2023 to the Peer2-Peer Support Project

SDC’s objective in supporting the Peer-2-Peer (P2P) Support Project is to bolster up Humanitarian Coordinators (HCs) and Humanitarian Country Teams (HCTs) efforts in strengthening the collective humanitarian response in field operations. P2P is the only interagency support mechanism that exists to support HCs and HCTs in the delivery of principled, quality, timely, and predictable collective humanitarian action through peer support.


GAIN - Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

Climate change, Covid-19, conflicts are reversing progress on malnutrition, underlining the growing urgency to transform food systems to tackle human development and planetary needs. Switzerland supports GAIN’s activities with governments, businesses, civil society and partners to ensure consistent access to affordable, safe, nutritious and sustainable food for healthier diets, in particular for the most vulnerable, through more inclusive policies and regulations, effective markets and innovative financing.


IDEA - Contribution to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance is the only inter governmental organization specialized in democracy support and thus key for realizing Switzerland’s foreign policy objective of promoting democracy. IDEA’s diverse constituency of countries from the Global South & North, its practice oriented expertise and its convening of policy dialogues at all levels, offers Switzerland an ideal dialogue platform and implementing partner on democratic governance.

Occupied Palestinian Territory ICRC Operations Appeals 2023: Additional Allocation

SDC allocates an additional credit to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for responding to urgent needs generated in the framework of the ongoing (10-11.2023) Israel and Gaza crisis. Funding to ICRC’s operations allows the ICRC to actively respond and to provide immediate protection and life-saving assistance to people affected by the current crisis. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.

MapAction Core Contribution 2023-2025

The aim of this credit proposal is to improve digital preparedness in the field of GIS/mapping and to become faster and more efficient in emergency response situations through cooperation with MapAction. With the support of SDC, the partner will be able to immediately provide up-to-date and relevant geospatial data and cartographic products in the event of a disaster or crisis.

Additional allocation to WFP Country Strategic Plans - Sudan, Chad, Egypt

Against historic levels of food security due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland supports annually in 28 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds indistinctively Country Strategic Plans, incorporating all WFP programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.

Additional Allocation in 2023 to International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Operations in South Sudan

SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. The conflict in Sudan since mid of April 2023, also caused major cross-border displacements to neighbouring countries. South Sudan is one of the most affected countries. The ICRC has adapted and reinforced its capacity to respond to increased humanitarian needs along the border with Sudan.

2023 Additional Allocation to UNHCR’s Operations in Afghanistan

29.2 mio Afghans - over 70 % of the country’s population - are in need of humanitarian assistance. 15.3 mio Afghans are acutely food insecure. The United Nations Refugee Agency is active in all provinces in Afghanistan and is helping to ease the immediate needs of communities, returnees, Internally Displaced Persons, Afghan refugees returning from neighbouring countries on food, non-food items / shelter, health and water / sanitation / hygiene equipment. 


Flood Resilience in the Lower Mekong

Lao PDR is vulnerable to hydro-meteorological events, exacerbated by climate change and unplanned urbanization. In partnership with the Lao government, Switzerland is committed to strengthening early warning systems, preparedness and response capacities of authorities and vulnerable communities by leveraging low-cost technologies and successful experience of the Cambodian 1294 Early Warning System.
