Adaptive and Resilient Communities in their Habitat (ARCH)

The project aims at supporting the remote mountainous communities of Pamirs and authorities in developing resilient habitat and improving people's livelihoods in Tajikistan. Cameroon – Lukmef: Child protection and education in emergencies in the South West and North West

Children bear the brunt of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the South West and North-West region. The entire formal education system is under attack, making it difficult and dangerous for children to access educational services. The protective environment for children has eroded. This project will contribute to the comprehensive protection of children including their rights to education in a safe and protective environment in the South West and North West regions of Cameroon.

Upholding Switzerland’s commitment to diversity and cultural exchange, it will encourage critical thinking and dialogue for a vibrant culture in Khulna and Jessore districts.
Gender equality through local civil society action in the Middle East and North Africa region (Gender Flagship MENA)

With slow progress in recent years, the MENA region scores poorly in terms of closing the gender gap. Amongst the various needs, are women’s political participation and empowerment, coupled with inclusion of marginalised communities, including the LGBTIQA+. The region is also home to a very vibrant, diversified civil society which – despite multiple restrictions – continues advocating for change and reforms, including in the gender realm. Switzerland strives to enable local civil society action to counter marginalisation and foster gender equality, ultimately benefiting the entire population.

Modernization of Vocational Education and Training related to Agriculture in Georgia

Agricultural productivity and incomes are low in Georgia, which is largely due to obsolete knowledge and skills. The project contributes to introducing systemic changes in agriculture-related vocational education and extension services, increasing the role of private sector actors in planning and delivering vocational training. Rural youth, women and men, will thus be better trained and acquire more relevant skills; this will contribute to increasing their incomes and employment opportunities.

The program supports the Security Ministry and the National Police of Honduras in professionalizing institutional processes with a focus on human rights and gender as well as on community policing. In the Gulf of Fonseca and La Mosquitia, the program consolidates local coordination mechanisms for violence prevention involving justice and security sector actors, local governments and civil society. During the exit phase, the aim is to institutionalize the achieved results.

Multi-purpose Cash Assistance to earthquake affected households in four districts of Paktika and Khost provinces

On June 2022 a severe earthquake caused wide-scale destruction in southern-eastern Afghanistan, leaving 362'000 people in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. By supporting the multi-purpose cash distribution's project of The Liason Office, a partner who is already active in the said region, Switzerland contributes to emergency response and to the recovery of the affected population.

Moldova: Strengthening capacities to address emergency health care services of hospitals in case of mass casualties due to an increased influx of refugees

As part of the national health contingency planning and following the capacity building efforts of the project, emergency departments of four hospitals will be equipped with necessary medical devices to improve the quality of medical services in the event of a major influx of Ukrainian refugees or mass casualties. With enhanced preparedness of emergency health services Switzerland makes a contribution to strengthening and sustaining of local capacities. That is in line with Swiss interest of supporting local health service providers.

Ukraine East Europe Foundation (EEF) - Building capacity of local CSOs to provide protection services to women and minorities

Women and minorities in Ukraine are more vulnerable to GBV due to the conflict, and at the same time the state's protection services are overwhelmed and understaffed. The goal is to strengthen the protection mechanisms by funding 15 women's rights and LGBTQI+ and Roma organisations, who will enhance the protection both at individual and systemic levels. East Europe Foundation will manage the grants and provide capacity building to make these organisations more sustainable.
