Cooperation for the protection of our natural assets

In Hungary, the total area protected either by national or EU legislation has grown to 22 % of the total territory. The project collects extensive data on protected natural areas of local interest and on Natura 2000 areas. Based on this data, the project organises an important awareness raising campaign (with information events, competitions, webpage) and enhances the protection of natural areas of local interest.

Support to Anti-Corruption Efforts in Kosovo (SAEK)

SAEK is a comprehensive anticorruption programme which takes an innovative approach towards anti-corruption, working directly with central government authorities and municipal actors as well as with civil society. The project contributes to reducing the level of corruption in Kosovo by supporting the prevention, detection and investigation of both grand corruption and petty corruption.

Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development - Research Module on Employment

SDC and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) are offering a new long-term funding scheme for development-relevant research on global issues (www.r4d.ch). The main focus lies on the generation of new insights and solutions as well as on the application of research results into policy and practice through partnership projects between researchers from Switzerland and from developing countries. The overall r4d.ch program consists of five thematic modules and a module for thematically open research. The second module focuses on employment in the context of sustainable development.

Projet d'Appui aux Elections Législatives et Municipales du Burkina Faso 2012

Le 2 décembre 2012, les citoyens et citoyennes burkinabè élisent leurs représentants aux niveaux municipal et national. A la demande de l’Etat burkinabè, divers Etats soutiennent l’organisation de ces élections significatives en termes de démocratisation. Participant au panier commun géré par le Programme des Nations unies pour le développement (PNUD), la Suisse appuie la Commission électorale nationale indépendante (CENI). Ce projet poursuit les objectifs du Message sur la coopération internationale 2013-16.

MKAJI – Maji kwa Afya ya Jamii: Upgrading Water Supply in Health Facilities of Dodoma Region

Water and sanitation (WASH) is one of the most important social determinants of health. Upon request of regional authorities, SDC will upgrade water supply and sanitation systems in 100 primary health facilities in Dodoma region. This intervention will considerably reduce the high risk of infection transmission and improve quality of care in health facilities. Water management and hygiene promotion in and with communities will complement hardware investments.

Postharvest Management in Sub-Saharan Africa

Food losses in Sub-Saharan Africa are roughly one third of the production and occur mostly at postharvest handling and at processing level. The goal of this project is to reduce postharvest losses for improved food security of smallholder farmers. Helvetas and its partners will work in Benin and Mozambique and cooperate closely with key multilateral, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in identifying and bringing good practices of postharvest management to scale and to advocate for a conducive policy environment.

Third Sustainable Livelihoods Project (SLP3)

The Third Sustainable Livelihoods Project (SLP3) aims to foster improved rural local governance and effective service provision by building capacity and institutionalizing community participation in the planning and delivery of priority investments. It will do so by supporting the implementation of the new Integrated Budget Law (IBL), which is the centrepiece of the government’s decentralization reform process. SLP3 will provide essential training, development and performance grants to all 330 soums and benefit 40% of Mongolia’s population.

Medical Education Reform in Tajikistan

Tajikistan is the poorest among the former Soviet Union countries with a Gross Domestic Product per capita of US $ 820 in 2010. Its health care system undergoes a difficult process of profound reforms endeavouring to adjust scarce financing allocated to the health sector with the obligation to improve the quality and accessibility of the poor population to basic health services. Establishment of a well functioning family medicine of a good quality is an effective way to decrease the morbidity and mortality rates which are currently the highest in the region. To reach this aim in the long-term, SDC supports the reform of medical education.

Fondo Suizo de Apoyo a la Cultura

De manera adicional a las intervenciones en las áreas definidas en la estrategia de la Agencia Suiza para ele Desarrollo y la Cooperación (COSUDE) 2013-2016, es fundamental reforzar la identidad cultural y la cohesión social en el país. Desde 2008 la Oficina de Coordinación de Bolivia, en el marco de la estrategia de cultura de COSUDE 2010-2015, apoyará iniciativas locales en el ámbito de la cultura (Música, teatro, danza, etc.) asignando del 1% de su presupuesto operativo, principalmente en áreas marginales y priorizando a grupos desfavorecidos y además aborda la temática de interculturalidad como uno de los elementos prioritarios para las intervenciones de los programas.

Cette proposition vise à assurer au point focal et au réseau Education (E) les moyens nécessaires (financiers et humains) leur permettant d’assumer leur rôle d’assurance-qualité, d’acquisition et de gestion du savoir, d’échange d’expériences et de maintien de compétences. Des appuis sont nécessaires pour l’animation du réseau, le shareweb et pour disposer de l’expertise nécessaire pour pouvoir affronter les prochains enjeux (agenda post 2015 et Initiative mondiale de Ban Ki Moon « Education first » notamment).

« ADRB - Association pour le Développement Rural du Batha »

La région du Batha doit faire face à de nombreux défis – extrême pauvreté, crises alimentaires cycliques, services étatiques faibles. Le projet vise à soutenir les populations, en grande majorité rurales et nomades, à diversifier et valoriser leur production et à favoriser également l’accès aux services sociaux de base. Les priorités du projet s’inscrivent dans la Stratégie nationale de réduction de la pauvreté.

En la población de Tayikistán, mayoritariamente rural, existen numerosos casos de violencia doméstica. Las mujeres pagan un alto precio por la cultura de impunidad con respecto a la violencia perpetrada contra ellas. En este contexto, la COSUDE se moviliza para conseguir un cambio de mentalidad y apoyar, en la práctica, una serie de estructuras que presten asistencia a las víctimas.
