L’Association APIDEL met en œuvre un programme visant à améliorer durablement la productivité agropastorale et l’accès aux services sociaux de base – éducation et santé – des communautés rurales extrêmement pauvres vivant dans l’Ennedi, zone désertique du nord du Tchad. Les priorités du projet et les axes choisis s’inscrivent dans les politiques sectorielles et la stratégie nationale de croissance et de réduction de la pauvreté du Tchad.

Since 2010, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), together with the Council of Europe supports a project for strengthening local governments in Albania. The "Strengthening Local Government Structures" project aims to increase cooperation between municipalities, improve human resources management and include to a greater extent local governments in national decision-making processes.

Gestion des eaux de ruissellement dans le sahel tchadien

Le programme répond à un enjeu majeur d’une zone sahélienne soumise régulièrement à l’insécurité alimentaire, à savoir l’accès et la disponibilité en eau pour l’agriculture et l’élevage par la recharge de la nappe phréatique, la lutte contre l’érosion et la régénération/valorisation des espaces en dégradation. Ce programme s’inscrit, par son approche et les actions promues, dans la Stratégie nationale de réduction de la pauvreté, dans le Schéma directeur de l’Agriculture et le Programme national de sécurité alimentaire.

Creating jobs and prospects through environmental protection: Switzerland supported this innovative approach in Bulgaria. The project entitled ‘Linking Nature, Protection and Sustainable Rural Development’ promoted, among other things, organic farming methods, regional products and ecotourism in the poorest region of the EU.

Promotion of social dialogue and better working conditions for employees

Under the leadership of the African Union the Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) Initiative will mainstream EOA into national agricultural policies and production systems. National multi-stakeholder platforms will be instrumental to facilitate and promote this process. SDC’s contribution allows the EOA-Initiative to expand from its actual pilot focus on East Africa to a total of eight countries in East and West Africa. In addition the EOA will be strengthened with scientific evidence from Kenya and Ghana provided by the Swiss-based Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL).

FAO - Emergency Assistance to poor herder families in Syria (BSL)

Large numbers of rural people of the central, coastal, eastern and south governorates have lost their farming business and/or livestock due to the ongoing crisis in Syria since the 15th March 2011. The ongoing political unrest has directly affected rural people's livelihoods, as they are not able to attend their business or marketing their products. Many rural people at eastern and north eastern governorates have lost their livelihood bases and/or livestock totally or partially due to the ongoing crisis coupled with the drought situation in past years.
