Trans-Border Dialogue for Peace in the Great Lakes Region

Jointly with the Swedish Embassy, Switzerland supports a trans-border dialogue for peace in the Great Lakes region, a program run by Interpeace with 6 local NGOs. This second phase will continue using research and dialogue to address stereotypes and lack of trust behind recurrent conflicts in the Great Lakes region. Research and dialogue constitute the basis to engage decision makers, to promote good governance and concrete consensus-based solutions taking into account local populations’ concerns and recommendations.

COMUNDO ist in der Personellen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit (PEZA) tätig. Sie verantwortet das operative Geschäft der zwei Trägervereine Bethlehem Mission Immensee und Inter-Agire. COMUNDO setzt sich weltweit für soziale Gerechtigkeit und für einen gerechteren Zugang/Schutz den Lebensgrundlagen ein. Die Organisation konzentriert sich in den Einsatzländern auf den Erfahrungs- und Wissensaustausch zwischen  Fachpersonen im Freiwilligenstatus und lokale Partnerorganisationen. Ziele sind in erster Linie Empowerment und Capacity Development (individuelle Kompetenzerweiterung, Organisationsentwicklung, Vernetzung, Systementwicklung) der Partner und Zielgruppen. In der Schweiz schafft COMUNDO das Bewusstsein für globale Zusammenhänge und sensibilisiert die Zivilgesellschaft und politische Entscheidungsträger für ein verantwortungsbewusstes Handeln.

Junior Professional Officer Programme

The programme aims at increasing Switzerland's presence within the UN development and humanitarian system, including the UN secretariat. It also meets the more general aim of strengthening the influence and quality of Switzerland's political dialogue with the target agencies and units. The Junior Professional Officer programme shall serve to nurture that dialogue and increase Switzerland's capacity to monitor and strengthen the work of agencies and secretariat units.

OVICI - La Nostra Famiglia - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (South Sudan)

01.01.2017 - 31.07.2018

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Schweizerisches Rotes Kreuz (SRK) / Swiss Red Cross (SRC) (Kredit Ost)

The SRC’s overall goal is to contribute to healthy and safe living for vulnerable groups and communities. Since access to quality health care services remains a key factor for good health, the SRC promotes both supply and demand side of local health systems. As healthy living also depends on the environment, SRC focuses on health determinants such as water, sanitation, nutrition and health literacy. Adressing risks and disasters, SRC programmes encompass disaster risk reduction measures and foster community resilience.

Médecins sans Frontières Suisse (MSF)

Médecins Sans Frontières Suisse (MSF) delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF’s main focus is on medical assistance, but occasionally carries out other activities (food distributions, water and sanitation, shelter, etc.) when no other actors are able or willing to do so. Besides, when necessary, MSF speaks out publicly to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.
