First Allocation of SDC Funding (Africa Division) to ICRC Operations in 2014, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.

Technical training and Skills Development Project

There is a growing political and social awareness and recognition that technical training is key to poverty reduction in Bolivia. Since 2006, SDC is working in this area with important results in training quality, relevance and extension of coverage in rural areas. This phase aims at consolidating results in rural areas, expanding work in urban areas, supporting high quality training of trainers and supporting the Ministry of Education in the implementation of its public policy.

Transparency International – Core contribution (2014-2016)

Transparency International (TI) is the leading global Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working against corruption. It has succeeded in placing and maintaining the fight against corruption on the international agenda. TI’s overall goal is to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity at all levels and across all sectors of society. To achieve this, the TI Movement focuses on promoting reforms within the public and private sectors that increase transparency and accountability, and on empowering civil society to advocate for and monitor such reforms.

Beitrag an die Netzwerkplattform Medicus Mundi Schweiz (MMS)

Medicus Mundi Schweiz (MMS) integriert 45 Schweizer Organisationen mit einem breiten Erfahrungshorizont in der internationalen Gesundheitsarbeit. Das Netzwerk engagiert sich für die Kohärenz und Wirkung der internationalen Gesundheitszusammenarbeit und wirkt mit Wissens- und Erfahrungsaustausch sowie Sensibilisierung auf die entwicklungspolitischen Rahmenbedingungen um das Recht auf Gesundheit für alle ein.

ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change

ASEAN member states have adopted a framework strategy to address climate change and food security for the Southeast Asian Region up to 2020. SDC’s intervention - conducted in close collaboration with GIZ - supports the implementation of the strategy. Through focusing on the participation of local people and communities to conserve, manage and benefit from forest goods and services, an important contribution can be made to address poverty alleviation and climate change at local, national and regional levels.

Latitude 21

Organisation faitière qui regroupe une douzaine d’ONG, l’Latitude 21 apporte un soutien technique et financier aux activités de ses organisations membres. Elle n’est pas elle-même porteuse de projets dans les pays du Sud. En tant que plateforme d’échange et promotrice de qualité, de réflexion et de pertinence, elle veut favoriser l’échange et la capitalisation d’expériences entre celles-ci. Avec les institutions publiques, associations et entreprises du canton de Neuchâtel, Latitude 21 entend nourrir la réflexion sur les enjeux du développement durable et les partenariats Nord-Sud.

Baobab Books, contribution 2014 - 2016

Les efforts et les dépenses engagés dans la sensibilisation et l'éducation au développement durable en Suisse constituent un investissement essentiel pour l'avenir de la coopération internationale. Se ralliant à cette affirmation, la DDC apporte son soutien depuis de nombreuses années à des acteurs qui mènent des prestations dans ce domaine.

Baobab Books a développé une activité de niche en proposant des prestations et des projets qui visent à sensibiliser les enfants et les jeunes à travers la littérature interculturelle.

Appui à la gestion foncière

Lancé depuis 2008 au Burundi et 2011 en RDC, le programme d’appui à la gestion foncière met le focus stratégique sur la sécurisation des droits en milieu rural ainsi que le développement et la mise en œuvre des politiques foncières en vue de garantir une meilleure gouvernance dans ce domaine et la réduction des conflits dans les communautés. Le focus portera sur le renforcement et l’extention des services fonciers, la reconnaissance des droits sur les terres rurales et l’amélioration du cadre légal et politique.

Empowerment of vulnerable groups as right holders through support of Human rights strategic partners (DoCip, CETIM, Incomindios, ICJ)

This project aims at promoting Human rights (HR) knowledge and implementation through the support of four HR advocacy organisations based in Switzerland, and engaged in promoting and defending the rights as well as a better access to justice of vulnerable groups and indigenous people. It consists on one side of the core funding of the HR programs of the organisations, and on the other side of a support to the development of their institutional capacities in terms of fundraising and results monitoring and measurement.

WFP - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Nicaragua)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.
