Strengthening Seed and Output Markets in Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Swaziland (SAMP2)

This project will increase food security by developing the capacity of smallholder farmers to locally produce improved seed and stimulate local formal and informal seed markets. To achieve this, the project will work to remove barriers to accessing inputs and agronomic training; develop farmer and community organizational skills to meet seed production standards; and promote efficient strategies for seed processing, packaging, marketing and informal exchanges.

Continuous innovation program (Ex PIC)

Over three decades, Switzerland has successfully supported Bolivian Agricultural Innovation, leading to considerable production increases. Since 2007, an SDC project promoted a bottom-up, demand based innovation model. With the creation of the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation (INIAF) above project is to be phased out and the accent set on strengthening INIAF through a multi-donor effort with the World Bank. Over the next 4 years, 30’000 poor producers will increase their production and income.

Back-stopping Mandate (BSM) for the Focal Point e+i

The focal point employment and income (FP e+i) is in charge of knowledge management and generation, inhouse consulting, linking knowledge-holders, and other tasks for e+i projects and programmes of SDC (and to a certain extent partners). The mandate supports the FP by adding specialised expertise in the three topics vocational skills (VSD), private (PSD) and financial sector development (FSD) and provides general administrative and knowledge management support.

Oltre 1,5 milioni di giovani che vivono nelle zone rurali del Paese ne sono attualmente esclusi e il loro futuro inserimento nel mondo del lavoro dipende da un’efficace sinergia tra istruzione di base di qualità e formazioni professionali adattate alle esigenze della popolazione.

Participatory Forest Management Project, Phase III

Community forestry contributes to improved livelihoods, sustainably managed forests and democratic governance in Bhutan. Being the largest community-based organisation in Bhutan it has the potential of providing role models for grassroots organisations and developing leadership capacities of women contributing to the increased representation of women in local governments. Community forestry stands for the ongoing shift in paradigm in Bhutan’s forestry sector from strict protection towards a sustainable use of resources.

Support to Tanzania’s Election Cycle 2013 – 2016 (STEC 13-16)

The proposed intervention supports the Tanzanian Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) and the media in Tanzania for the Constitutional referendum 2014 and local and general elections in 2014/2015. EMBs will be supported for institutional reforms and capacity strengthening to guarantee free and credible elections. The media will be strengthened in its role as watchdog and citizen informer to provide for impartial political reporting.

Cultural Programme Tanzania (CPT)

This Programme proposes a comprehensive approach in promoting local culture (mainly music) through institutional support and specific projects support based on opportunities, local knowledge and trends. CPT is moreover fully in line with SDC's Strategic Orientation for the promotion of intercultural and artistic exchanges with the South and the East (2010-2015).

Health research for policy making: The Ifakara Health Institute (IHI)

This project aims to improve evidence based policy making in Tanzania. It will allow the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and partners to better measure the impact of public spending in the health sector, and improve the use of evidence in policy making, for more effective health results. SDC will further strengthen IHI, the only private and independent health research institute, in developing and sustaining district-based data collection.

Integration of Environmental Education in Education System of North Macedonia

The Environmental Education programme relates strongly to all other SDC and SECO water projects in North Macedonia, since it contributes to awareness raising and increased interest for better and healthier environment. It is expected that the school children and their parents will be more sensitive on the environmental issues and will demand from the institutions in charge to address these issues in more effective way.

JPO Programme, Volées 2013-2018, Humanitarian Aid HA

The aim of the programme is to increase Switzerland's presence within the UN system. This measure also meets the more general aim of strengthening the influence and quality of Switzerland's political dialogue with the target agencies. The JPO programme will eventually serve to intensify this political dialogue and increase Switzerland's capacity to monitor the work of agencies through direct contact with the JPOs recruited through this programme.
