Strengthening Rule of Law in Malakand (SRLM)

The Malakand Division suffered through 3 years of extremist activities which had an adverse impact on its already weak legal system. A significant factor that led to the takeover of the region by armed groups was the weak justice system. The Strengthening Rule of Law in Malakand (SRLM) Programme aims to support the government in its efforts to stabilise the region by strengthening the legal institutions, with focus on formal and informal mechanisms.

Programme d’Appui aux Filières Agropastorales de Sikasso – PAFA

La DDC soutient le Conseil Régional de Sikasso et les partenaires privés locaux dans l’amélioration des conditions cadres pour le développement des filières pomme de terre et lait. Les appuis apportés contribueront à une meilleure organisation des différents segments de ces filières, de la production au marché et à la valorisation locale des produits au profit des petits producteurs et transformateurs. A terme, plus de 360'000 personnes assureront leur sécurité alimentaire et réduiront leur pauvreté.

Utilizzo sostenibile delle risorse di legname nel Sudan del Sud

Nel Sudan del Sud il legname rappresenta un importante vettore energetico e un materiale da costruzione molto diffuso. In seguito al massiccio afflusso di profughi provenienti dal Sudan, in alcune regioni la pressione sulle già limitate risorse naturali, tra cui il legno, si è ulteriormente accentuata. La DSC finanzia dunque un progetto di mappatura delle foreste per favorire un utilizzo sostenibile del legno nel Sudan del Sud.

The objective of the cooperation between SDC and UNICEF is to strengthen the capacity of Ministry of City Management (MoCM) in planning and implementing rural water supply and sanitation programmes in an equitable and sustainable manner. This will be achieved by strengthening their technical capacity in the areas of water sector assessment, use of alternate technologies and improving their capacity in water and sanitation system design and construction supervision.

Cambodian Horticulture Project Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN)

90 % of the poor in Cambodia live in rural areas and more than 40 % of the rural poor suffer from food insecurity. The increasing market demand for vegetable and fruits provides a huge opportunity for small holder farmers and processors, in particular women to increase income and food security. The Cambodia Horticulture project will support female and male farmers and processors in increasing sustainable production, income and resilience in four of the poorest provinces of Cambodia.

Angewandte Forschung zur Anpassung an den Klimawandel

Bolivien ist von den negativen Auswirkungen des Klimawandels (KW) stark betroffen – insbesondere 500‘000 besonders anfällige in Armut lebende Familien in den Höhenlagen der Anden. Mit dem Projekt soll die Resilienz von armen Familien in den Anden verbessert werden. Mittels eines Wettbewerbs sollen in 4 Jahren rund 100 Forschungsprojekte der zwei bekanntesten Universitäten des Landes finanziert werden. Es geht dabei um angewandte Forschung zu Themen, die den konkreten Bedürfnissen der am stärksten vom KW betroffenen andinen Dorfgemeinschaften entsprechen.

Regional Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis (RVAA)

The project supports Southern African Development Community (SADC) and its member states in establishing and updating systems for vulnerability assessments and analysis (VAA) providing reliable information on food security situation and related conditions to determine appropriate short-term interventions and long-term policy and projects planning. The project will establish VAA systems in countries without such analyses, update existing systems to integrate climate change with food security and develop capacities for VAA.

IOM: Humanitarian Assistance and Protection of Sub-Sahara migrants in Morocco

Despite international commitments, Morocco offers little to no protection to the mixed migrants from Sub-Sahara Africa on its territory. With the departure of a key humanitarian actor, the situation in the Northern Oriental region has precariously worsened. In this context, the proposed project aims to (a) improve humanitarian assistance and protection of mixed migrant groups and (b) strengthen capacities of governmental, civil society and media actors and raise awareness of the general public. It is funded by both SDC and the Political Directorate.

Partnership on Evaluation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development

The project builds on the recognition that independent evaluation is a powerful instrument to enhance development effectiveness through improved learning and accountability. By means of a partnership with the Independent Office of Evaluation (IOE) of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a priority multilateral institution for Switzerland’s international cooperation, SDC will focus on knowledge sharing in terms of evaluation methodologies and their outcomes as a mutual learning experience of the two institutions.

Horn of Africa NGO Safety Programme

In Somalia and Kenya, implementing projects requires constant security analyses and information to access the beneficiaries and ensure the security of the implementing staff. By supporting NGO safety programmes in both countries SOC contributes to adequate analysis, advise and training allowing the operational NGOs to mitigate risks and improve access to beneficiaries, while benefiting itself from this information to strengthen its context knowledge and secure its own missions/operations.

L'accès à l'assainissement de base et à l'hygiène est un droit humain fondamental pour la santé, l'environnement, la dignité humaine et la lutte contre la pauvreté en général. Le Fonds mondial pour l'assainissement est en ligne avec la Déclaration de Paris, en particulier, il permet une concentration de financements de différentes sources pour une seule approche définie dans chaque pays. Le Fonds mondial pour l'assainissement est un mécanisme financier qui, d'une part, concentre ses interventions dans les pays les plus pauvres où la demande en assainissement et hygiène est la plus grande et, d'autre part, permet la mise à l'échelle de projets/approches ayant démontré leur efficacité dans le cadre de politiques nationales d'assainissement clairement définies par les gouvernements.
