Contribution to the Association "Alblnfo ch" Diaspora-website and activities

The role of the numerous Albanian speaking diaspora living in Switzerland for the development of their countries of origin is of high significance. The flows of financial remittances, of social capital, professional and cultural know-how are important resources for development. Alblnfo ch is an important stakeholder in this regard, offenng an interactive platform of refiection, debate, contacts and networking as well as professional and neutral information service to the diaspora in Switzertand and beyond.

L’art et la culture sont des éléments indissociables de l’identité et du développement d’une société. Les cinéastes du Sud et de l’Est jouent un rôle capital pour refléter et partager dans un langage universel les réalités des sociétés dont ils sont issus. Un film n’existe toutefois qu’à partir du moment où il est vu. Par son travail internationalement reconnu de distribution spécialisée, trigon-film rend depuis 25 ans des films du Sud et de l’Est visibles auprès d’un large public en Suisse, et ouvre à de nombreux cinéastes émergents les portes d’une distribution internationale.

Il tasso di disoccupazione della Serbia resta a livelli elevati. La DSC sostiene un progetto che mira ad aumentare i redditi e le opportunità d’impiego per gli abitanti del Sud e del Sud-Ovest del Paese, con un’attenzione particolare ai giovani e alle donne. La realizzazione di tale obiettivo passa attraverso il miglioramento della performance dei settori del turismo e dei prodotti tradizionali.

Support to the Reform of Mental Health Services in Moldova

Mental health disorders represent a high burden of disease in Moldova. In 2010, the Ministry of Health (MoH) took systematic and adequate steps to launch a profound reform in this health sub-sector, showing a strong political commitment. With this project, Switzerland is supporting the efforts of the Republic of Moldova towards the improvement of the well-being of mental health service users through access to functional community level Primary Mental Health Care Services.

Sustainable Livelihoods and Social Development (SLSD)

The South-East of Afghanistan was particularly deprived of development efforts of the last ten years and before. The Liaison Office (TLO) rooted in this region is a capable and experienced Afghan partner to coordinate community based initiatives in close cooperation with formal and informal actors, women and men. Improved land and water management and resolved conflicts around these resources will contribute to reduce poverty, strengthen local governance, and human security.

Avec les élections prévues pour juillet 2013 le Mali veut se donner des institutions représentatives et légitimes. C’est un autre pas important d’un retour à ordre constitutionnel pour faire sortir le pays de la crise, provoquée par le coup d’état et la longue occupation du nord du pays par des groupes armés. Or, le budget des élections d’USD 123 millions dépasse les capacités financières du Mali. La communauté internationale mobilise donc un soutien d’USD 73 millions à travers un fonds commun, pour lequel la Suisse contribue CHF 3 millions.

Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development - Research Module on Ecosystems

Enhancing sustainable and climate-friendly use and management of ecosystems for human well-being is at the core of a new research module in the context of SDC’s and the Swiss National Science Foundation’s (SNSF) joint r4d Program (Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development; www.r4d.ch). Researchers from Switzerland with their partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America will jointly generate new insights and develop innovative concepts and tools for a more sustainable and equitable provision of ecosystem services benefiting the poor.

Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development - Research Module on Food Security

Achieving food security remains a global challenge. The SDC’s and the Swiss National Science Foundation’s (SNSF) joint r4d Program (Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development; www.r4d.ch) will promote research and innovation in agricultural and food systems to enhance food security in the context of global sustainable development. Researchers from Switzerland with their partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America will jointly generate new insights and approaches that contribute to meet the global demand for food in an environmentally and socially sustainable way.

Global Mountain Forum (GMF) – Bridging Phase

SDC has a long history of supporting sustainable mountain development (SMD) efforts at different levels including the global policy level. Ever since, SDC has promoted policy dialogue and cooperation among different actors in order to promote SMD from global to regional, national, and local levels. Through the new institutional embedment of the mountain portfolio in the GPCC due to the internal shift of the responsibilities, a Bridging Phase is submitted to secure a continued support to key strategic partners linked to SMD during the reorientation process of the SMD portfolio.

Strengthening the link between migration and development: testing an integrated service provider to Moldovan migrants and their communities (NEXUS)

Moldova is heavily affected by brain- and skills-drain/waste as a result of massive migration with over ¼ of its active population being abroad. Remittances support consumption-led economy growth, but their productive investment is less than 10%. This project explores the development potential of migration, by promoting circular migration practices and efficient accumulation and transfer of financial and human capital of migrants and Diaspora.

La governance fondiaria è al centro delle sfide per lo sviluppo in Cambogia, Laos, Myanmar e Vietnam: la concessione a investitori di terre coltivate da famiglie contadine è la principale causa della nuova povertà e dell’insicurezza alimentare. Il progetto supporta una serie di riforme in quest’ ambito ed è volto a rafforzare l’efficacia dei suoi promotori trasmettendo conoscenze, creando alleanze, promuovendo la cooperazione regionale e sostenendo politiche e pratiche più adeguate.

Support to the Mother and Child Health Department of the Medical University Simulation Centre of Moldova

The international evidence proves the effectiveness of training methods based on simulation in comparison with “traditional" education, improving the practical skills of medical staff. The project will support the introducing simulation training technologies in obstetric, gynecological, neonatal and pediatric emergencies and by this contributing to improving the high medical education in Moldova.
