Assistance en soutien psychosocial et protection intégrée pour les populations affectées par le conflit au Burkina Faso

Les populations déplacées internes au Burkina Faso, en particulier les femmes et les filles, sont exposées à des violations de leurs droits. Afin de contribuer à la protection de ces populations vulnérables, la Suisse soutient le projet de protection intégrée. Le projet vise à répondre à l’urgence et à appuyer les acteurs locaux (Etat, associations et communautés) dans la prise en charge des victimes et à réduire leur vulnérabilité en leur donnant des moyens de subvenir à leurs besoins.
Strengthening access to financial mechanisms for disaster risk management in four Andean countries

Subnational authorities in Peru and Ecuador responsible for DRM strengthen their capacities to access central government finance for DRM. The project will provide guidance in developing and accessing funding from existing public, public-private and multilateral DRM funds based on prior country diagnostics. A complementing Community of Practice (Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia) fosters exchange of experiences and lessons learned. This is expected to result in enhanced access to available financial resources for DRM for project beneficiaries.

Les multiples crises au Tchad ont affecté les conditions de vie des populations, surtout de la bande sahélienne, peu soutenues par les acteurs humanitaires et du développement. A travers ce projet d’amélioration de l’accès aux services sociaux de base et des moyens de subsistance, la Suisse contribue à la stabilisation des communautés, surtout des jeunes des provinces du Kanem, du Bahr-El-Gazal et du Batha, réduisant ainsi la migration irrégulière depuis le Sahel tchadien.
Climate Resilience Develoipment in Tajikistan

The contribution to the HELVETAS project aims at building resilience of livelihoods of the rural communities of Khatlon region, vulnerable to climate change. The population and particularly women and youth will engage in management, regeneration and protection of their natural resources and biodiversity while implementing disaster risk reduction measures.

The Swiss contribution to the World Food Programme’s Country Strategic Programme will foster and enhance resiliency through agricultural skilling and increased access to income, allowing for the Rohingya refugees to become more self-reliant and support their basic needs. As a contributor to a multi-donor framework, Switzerland can simultaneously leverage durable solutions advancement in the Rohingya response while ensuring service delivery for the most vulnerable in the refugee camps.

Localization of Environment in Humanitarian Action

The abilities of local humanitarian responders who are facing additional challenges due to environmental and climate issues will be strengthened by providing specialized and locally contextualized trainings for integrating environmental concerns into humanitarian efforts. A sharp escalation of the Gaza crisis has left the entire population in desperate and catastrophic conditions. Hundreds of thousands of people are crammed into overcrowded shelters and hospitals, with food and water running out. The World Food Programme (WFP) has provided emergency food and cash assistance to over 630,000 people across Gaza and the West Bank and continues providing such assistance in the framework of the renewed crisis. SDC contributes to WFP’s efforts in emergency response and life-saving assistance.

Contribution to UN OCHA’s office oPt for the coordination of the “Flash Appeal Occupied Palestinian Territory”

SDC allocates an additional credit to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) for responding to urgent needs generated in the framework of the ongoing Israel and Gaza crisis. Funding to UN OCHA for oPt enables the office to continue coordinating the “Flash Appeal Occupied Palestinian Territory” and, as a result, to actively contribute to responding and providing immediate protection and life-saving assistance to people affected by the current crisis. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.

A renewed spike of violence and escalation of hostilities are currently affecting Israel and oPt during Q4 of 2023, with possible further regional implications yet to be determined. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. Together with Red Cross and Red Crescent member National Societies, it plays a major role in responding to humanitarian needs, including in the Near and Middle East. Switzerland intends to contribute to the IFRC’s Middle East Crisis Emergency Appeal for a regional humanitarian response, as well as to PRCS’s oPt emergency appeal and to MDA’s response in Israel.
RISE - Resilience and Innovation Support and Empowerment Project

The initiative strengthens the economic resilience of Yemeni entrepreneurs and micro / small business with a view of enhancing livelihood opportunities of Yemenis. The initiative further responds to the protracted crisis in Yemen, which requires the strengthening of livelihoods for the Yemeni people and a shift towards enhancing local capacities.

Contribution to UNICEF Emergency Response Plan in the occupied Palestinian territory (Humanitarian Action for Children - HAC November 2023)

Switzerland mitigates the humanitarian needs in the oPt with a contribution to the UNICEF Emergency Humanitarian Action for Children in the oPt. Main focus of the intervention is the delivering of gender-responsive lifesaving interventions for water, sanitation and hygiene WASH. Further needs are addressed in the field of child protection; multipurpose cash assistance and education services. UNICEF leads the WASH and education humanitarian clusters and will ensure coordination with all involved humanitarian actors.
