Mine Clearance

Switzerland’s contribution to HALO Trust allows to clear 5.4 km² of heavily mined land in the northwest provinces of Cambodia, benefitting 9,800 poor households by providing safe access to land and water sources. In its last phase, it supports the Cambodian government in achieving its goal to becoming a mine-free country by 2025. SDC coordinates with the Cambodia Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority to monitor community land use and ownership after mine clearance.

CashCap Contribution 2023-2024

Strengthening Drought Resilience in the Somali National Regional State, Ethiopia (SDR-SNRS)

The livelihoods of pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in Somali National Regional State are increasingly threatened by environmental, socio-economic, and political upheavals. GIZ, in cooperation with Local Government partners, aims to build the resilience of vulnerable pastoralist communities through proven land rehabilitation measures, the promotion of livelihood activities, and capacity development of government and private sector institutions.

In Lebanon and Jordan, the protracted refugee crisis, structural fragility, political and economic crises, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have led to increased poverty and unemployment, especially among youth and women. Switzerland will support vulnerable communities in both countries to access their rights, enjoy increased safety and enhance their self-reliance through a combination of livelihoods support, protection, research and advocacy contributing to progress towards durable and sustainable solutions.

Junior Professional Officer Programme 2023-2028

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme aims at contributing to a qualified and diverse United Nations workforce by financing Swiss JPOs within Switzerland’s priority UN development organisations and the UN Secretariat. This provides Swiss graduates with an opportunity to start a career in the United Nations while at the same time strengthens the United Nations capacities towards implementing the 2030 Agenda.
