Important information for all foreign citizens in Georgia

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs today that foreigners whose visas have expired but who could not leave the national territory due to the emergency situation (hospitalization, quarantine, unavailability of return flights, etc.) have to leave the country until 31.12.2020 at the latest or to regularize their stay until 31.12.2020.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia informs:

The period of legal stay of foreign nationals in Georgia extended until 1 July 2021 due to restrictions related to COVID 19 pandemic.

At the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council chaired by the Prime Minister, Government of Georgia Resolution N164 of 28 January 2020 was amended to stipulate that foreign nationals or stateless persons, who were staying legally in the territory of Georgia on 14 March 2020 and could not leave the country before the expiry of the period of legal stay in Georgia due to the pandemic-related restrictions, shall have the right to stay in the territory of Georgia until 1 July 2021, provided that their stay in the territory of Georgia was caused by the following circumstances:

a) the state of nationality of the person concerned was in a high-risk zone during the respective period;

b) border-crossing restriction has been imposed by the respective state;

c) the person concerned was placed in hospital, quarantine or self-isolation because of his/her health condition;

d) the person concerned could not leave the country within the specified time-limits due to cancelled flights.

At the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, the stay of a foreign national or a stateless person in the territory of Georgia until 1 July 2021 shall be considered legal for the purposes of obtaining a residence permit as well, provided that respective criteria are met.

Before making amendments to Government of Georgia Resolution N164 of 28 January 2020, foreign nationals were authorized to legally stay in Georgia until 31 December 2020.

Le Ministère géorgien des affaires étrangères informe aujourd’hui que les étrangers dont le visa a expiré mais qui n’ont pas pu quitter le territoire national en raison de la situation d’urgence (hospitalisation, quarantaine, non disponibilité de vols de retour, etc.). ont jusqu’au 31.12.2020 au plus tard pour quitter le pays ou jusqu’au 31.12.2020 pour régulariser leur séjour.

Das georgische Aussenministerium teilte heute mit, dass alle Ausländer mit abgelaufenem Visa, welche das Staatsgebiet aufgrund des Ausnahmezustandes nicht rechtzeitig verlassen konnten (Krankenhausaufenthalt, Quarantäne, Nichtverfügbarkeit von Rückflügen usw.), Georgien bis spätestens 31.12.2020 verlassen oder Ihren Aufenthalt bis zum 31.12.2020 legalisieren müssen.  

Il Ministero degli Affari Esteri georgiano ha annunciato oggi che tutti gli stranieri con visto scaduto che non hanno potuto lasciare il territorio in tempo a causa dello stato di emergenza (ricovero ospedaliero, quarantena, indisponibilità di voli di ritorno, ecc.) devono lasciare la Georgia il 31.12.2020 al più tardi o legalizzare il loro soggiorno per il 31.12.2020.
