According to the director general Zoltán Dunai the Hungarian railcar fleet will increase with this contract until end of 2016 up to 133 railcars. Of those 123 commuter trains will be used by MÁV and 10 by the west-Hungarian GYSEV.

As the replaced railcars in Budapest will be used to improve the passenger transportation in east Hungary and in the conurbation, this investment will clearly improve the quality of the rail service, the director of MÁV-Start György Zaránd explained.

Ilona Dávid, general director of the state-owned enterprise, said that until now the MÁV is using 102 FLIRT-railcars and is very pleased with the quality of the Swiss product. Furthermore, these railcars could contribute to the fact that the 21th century could be again a century of trains.
