Dear Swiss citizens, dear New Zealander and South Pacific friends of Switzerland,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Wellington, New Zealand. My country is geographically very far from the South Pacific, but it shares with New Zealand many values. Both nations are old and stable democracies, believe in free markets and share a strong commitment to peace, human rights and preservation of natural resources. Many thousand Swiss citizens have made New Zealand their permanent home and many more discover the beauties of her nature every year. While our relations with New Zealand are old, we strive to develop them with the small nations in the South Pacific.
My Embassy and its team aim every day to further developing these relations in many fields, among them most importantly the political, economic, scientific and cultural ones. Our Consulate in Auckland and our Consulates General in Fiji and Samoa give us valuable support in our work. We provide consular services to our seven thousand fellow citizens living in New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Niue and American Samoa who are registered with us and urge those who are not to do so. It’s free, and it allows us to assist you if something should happen. On this site, not only the Swiss, but everybody interested in my country will find much useful information. Should you need to know more in a particular field, the Embassy will be happy to assist you. I look forward to meeting many of you in person and send you my very best wishes.
