The exhibition “El grito del silencio”by the Mexican photographer, Karina Muench, presents a series of portraits of women in Bolivia. The photographer spent 14 months in the country taking portraits of women victims of violence.
When do images move us? What can artistic photography convey? At the opening of the exhibition, Karina Muench and Reto Camenisch, head of photographic studies of the Lucerne School of Journalism (MAZ), discuss the power of visual communication.
The exhibition, which is supported by the SDC as part of a campaign to prevent and protest against violence against women, has toured five cities in Bolivia. It was then presented in Chile and subsequently within the framework of the international photographic and visual arts festival, “PhotoEspaña”, in Brazil and Spain.
The exhibition runs from 7 to 27 January in the “Lichthof” of the SDC building, but is only open to the public during the discussion on 13 January 2015.
