Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine


The Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) aims at reducing tensions and fostering peace, stability and security and to monitoring the respect of OSCE principles and commitments in Ukraine with up to 1000 international observers. Switzerland is seconding experts since the very beginning. This commitment shall continue with a Swiss contingency of up to 16 secondments.

Minsk Process


Switzerland is supportive of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements aiming at the peaceful solution of the conflict in and around Ukraine by the means of human resources. Swiss engagement comprises the following secondments: Ambassador Toni Frisch, head of the humanitarian working group, including the political advisor to Ambassador Frisch and to Ambassador Martin Sajdik, Special Representative.

Support to Minister Chernysh


Switzerland deploys a Swiss expert and three Ukrainian specialists to advise the new Ukrainian Minister for the temporarily occupied territories and the IPDs. The Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine (MTOTIDP) and the FDFA agreed to jointly implement an initiative aimed at supporting the MTOTIDP in the areas of civilian peacebuilding, conflict resolution and connectivity with certain districts of the Oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk as well as in the field of outreach and communication.
