I warmly welcome you to our website, which aims to inform you about the various services, responsibilities, and activities of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta.

The year 1822 saw the opening of the first two Swiss Consulates in the United States, in New York and Washington, while the first American Consulate was established in Basel in 1830. The oldest treaty between the two countries, signed in 1847, concerned property and inheritance rights, and in 1850 a Treaty of Friendship and Trade was concluded. Furthermore, the modern Swiss federal state was founded in 1848 with the adoption of the Federal Constitution on September 12, inspired by liberal ideas, the French Revolution, and the United States Constitution.

Building on these deep and longstanding ties between Switzerland and the United States, the team at the Consulate General is committed not only to providing high-quality consular services, primarily to the Swiss community, though not exclusively, but also to actively fostering stronger connections and creating new opportunities for collaboration across a broad range of fields, including economic and trade cooperation, education, science and research, as well as cultural exchanges in our vast jurisdiction (States of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, as well as the Cayman Islands). The eight Honorary Consuls, based in the Carolinas, Dallas, Houston, Miami, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Orlando, and the Cayman Islands, provide invaluable support in carrying out our mandate of representing Swiss interests, assisting Swiss citizens, and promoting bilateral relations throughout the region.
