Humanitarian Fund CAR (HF-CAR)

The protracted crisis continues to affect the lives and livelihoods of Central Africans, and more than 50% of the population remains in need of protection and assistance. The Humanitarian Fund enables the implementation of priority humanitarian responses, and the Swiss contribution enables an effective and efficient response to these needs, in its commitments to Good Humanitarian Donorship, the Grand Bargain and the Localization of Aid. 


SDG Lab: multi-stakeholder innovation and collaboration for the 2030 Agenda

The SDG Lab was established in 2017 in Geneva as a UN initiative with the aim of accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by bringing together diverse actors in Geneva. It supports the United Nation Office at Geneva (UNOG) and Geneva to pull together actors from Civil society, governments, UN Agencies and the financial sector, to accelerate policy and action for implementation of the 2030 Agenda. 


Rural Communities’ Disaster Risks and Climate Change Resilience (Phase 2)

In the natural disasters prone Kyrgyzstan, most vulnerable are the rural communities. Within its periodic Country Strategic Plans, the UN World Food Programme strengthens their disaster risk reduction capacities and climate change resilience. Switzerland has been successfully supporting these endeavours in 2022, supporting resilience and food security of the most vulnerable communities and extends the support to the same direction for 2023-2027.


Contribution to the Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI)

In a global context of increasing fragility but constrained resources, Switzerland is searching ways to leverage contributions of the private sector to scale-up support to peace and development. The Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI) proposes an innovative, yet ambitious, approach combining field based peace mediation, local business incubation and global impact financing. PDI’s model explores concrete ways to support two seemingly distant objectives: peace and profit.


Programme d’Appui au Développement des Compétences Techniques et Professionnelles GWANI

Chaque année 500’000 jeunes nigériens arrivent sur le marché du travail comme main d’oeuvre non qualifiée dont les compétences ne répondent pas à la demande de l’économie locale. La Suisse soutient le Niger dans le développement d’offres de formation professionnelle de qualité en faveur de ce public cible. Le projet GWANI vise l’intégration du secteur privé dans l’orientation et le développement d’un système de formation professionnel plus performant, inclusif, et résilient.


Local Governance for People and Nature

The contribution to this joint UN programme will improve key services and policies in 99 eligible local governments. By supporting them to enhance good governance in managing their affairs with a special emphasis on social inclusion and environmental protection, the program will result in more equitable, open and efficient local administrations, improved local service provision and citizens’ quality of life. By pooling the efforts of different UN agencies, Switzerland contributes to the implementation of the UN system reform.


Strengthening Municipal Resilience to Corruption

This  intervention  aims  to  reduce  the  space  for  corruption  on  municipal  level  through  support  to  mayors, municipal councils and administration in municipalities willing to engage in anticorruption efforts. The project will help state institutions to create or improve and implement mechanisms, policies and legislation to address high-corruption  risks  priority areas  e.g. procurement, urban planning,  licensing.  It will  target  also  the CSOs (citizens) and the media to raise their awareness and capacities to recognize corruption and know their rights.

Ce programme vise l’aménagement des vallées par les seuils d’épandage et l'utilisation durable des surfaces réhabilitées par les populations (350'000 personnes) de quatre provinces au centre-est du Tchad. Cette approche est promue et mise à l’échelle avec l’appui des organisations publiques et privées. Les femmes et les jeunes ont accès à la terre et sont appuyés dans la transformation agroalimentaire et l’accès au marché pour améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle, la santé et les revenus tout en renforçant la résilience de la population.

Hemayah: Protecting and Empowering Marginalized Communities

Egypt is a destination country for migrants and forcibly displaced persons facing challenging humanitarian conditions and limited prospects for integration. Switzerland will contribute to the “Hemayah/Protection” project implemented by Terre des Hommes to improve survival, protection, self-reliance, and wellbeing of migrants and forcibly displaced persons from marginalized communities. The project will provide comprehensive services and opportunities for skills development and socioeconomic integration through a sustainable community based approach.

Resilience & Economic Recovery of Border Communities in Armenia REBCA

01.12.2022 - 31.07.2024

Armenia's positive socio-economic development in recent years has been plagued time and again by massive set-backs such as the COVID-19 pandemic, military conflicts and external economic shocks. A further escalation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in September 2022 severely affected border communities, home of more than 90,000 people. A contribution to the World Food Programme (WFP) will provide immediate support for humanitarian assistance and economic recovery.


ICIMOD - Contribution to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development

ICIMOD is a regional intergovernmental knowledge and learning center serving its eight member countries in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region. SDC support towards strengthening ICIMOD’s role as an enabler of regional cooperation and informed policy dialogue will benefit mountain communities through green, climate resilient and inclusive development, while profiting from Swiss thematic expertise.


DRC: Building resilience of Yemeni communities through integrated water resource management and provision of water supply, sanitation and hygiene services

01.12.2022 - 30.06.2026

Through the proposed intervention, the climate and conflict resilience of displacement-affected Yemeni in targeted locations will be reinforced through sustainable and community-led integrated water resource management (IWRM), sustainable water and sanitation systems, provision of multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA) and improved technical and institutional capacity of local partners.
