The last phase of the mandated Tajik National Water Resources Management Project-III of Syr Darya river basin will focus on sustainability and aims at improving rural livelihoods through an efficient and integrated management of water resources. The project will lead to climate resilient use, protection and development of basin water resources, improved irrigation efficiency, decreased risks of water-related disasters and allows smallholder farmers to increase incomes from agricultural production.

Effective Pasture Management and Risk Reduction

The proposal will develop an evidence-based roadmap for sustainable pasture ecosystems management, addressing livestock issues from local to market levels. It will support the development of a future project benefitting small holders and communities through higher pasture productivity and decreased vulnerability to natural hazards. This will improve livestock health and preserve its value as capital assets.
Smart & Precise Prognostic Hydrology for Innovative Risk Management and Resource Use Efficiency in Central Asia (SAPPHIRE Central Asia)

The main goal of the project is to improve hydro-meteorological services provision to key stakeholders in Central Asia. This will be achieved through targeted capacity building of National Hydro-Meteorological Services agencies to valorize gauging station data by integrating a digital assistant solution to improve forecast accuracy. This is instrumental for disaster warning and decision-making across water-dependent sectors of the Central Asian economies.

Building Knowledge and Awareness on sustainable Sanitation Solutions

The project aims to improve public health by enhancing population’s access to safe sanitation services. The project will document and disseminate knowledge on innovative decentralized sanitation systems among concerned stakeholders for adequate integration of alternative sanitation models in state strategies, programmes and plans. Global Survivors Fund

Survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) are often deeply traumatized and stigmatized. According to international law, they have a right to remedy to help them rebuild their life. The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) combines advocacy for reparations for CRSV survivors at national and global level with the implementation of interim reparative measures. Co-funding this initiative supports Switzerland’s strong Women, Peace and Security profile in the Security Council.

Contribution to the Climate Action Accelerator (CAA) - Accelerating the decarbonisation and adaptation of the international aid sector to climate and environmental challenges

The Climate Action Accelerator is a non-profit initiative that develops tools and solutions to support organisations of the aid, health and education sectors in reducing their carbon footprint. By the End of 2023, around 40 organisations (with a focus on Europe, Africa and South Asia) shall be engaged, and committed to oeuvre towards the decarbonisation of their own, and partner organisations’ operations. Reducing GHG emissions of organisations’ own operations is an important contribution to the race towards Net-Zero.
ICIMOD - Contribution to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development

DRC: Building resilience of Yemeni communities through integrated water resource management and provision of water supply, sanitation and hygiene services

RLP - Horn of Africa Regional Livestock Program

Pastoralist communities in the Horn of Africa (HoA) rely on livestock as their main livelihood source. They face multiple pressures of climate change, degraded natural resources, and conflicts. The program will support historically underdeveloped pastoralist cross-border communities of Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya to become more climate resilient and derive sustainable livelihoods from inclusive livestock market systems. The intervention takes a regional approach – linking production, markets, and policy.

Egypt is a destination country for migrants and forcibly displaced persons facing challenging humanitarian conditions and limited prospects for integration. Switzerland will contribute to the “Hemayah/Protection” project implemented by Terre des Hommes to improve survival, protection, self-reliance, and wellbeing of migrants and forcibly displaced persons from marginalized communities. The project will provide comprehensive services and opportunities for skills development and socioeconomic integration through a sustainable community based approach.

Resilience & Economic Recovery of Border Communities in Armenia REBCA

Armenia's positive socio-economic development in recent years has been plagued time and again by massive set-backs such as the COVID-19 pandemic, military conflicts and external economic shocks. A further escalation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in September 2022 severely affected border communities, home of more than 90,000 people. A contribution to the World Food Programme (WFP) will provide immediate support for humanitarian assistance and economic recovery.

Resilient, Inclusive Markets in Moldova

Moldova's growth is volatile and jobless. More and better jobs are needed to ensure its economic recovery, resilience and development, particularly outside large cities. Responding to the Government's request, Switzerland will contribute to supporting key markets in Moldova and, with the help of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), focusing on local markets and value-chains in vulnerable regions. This is complemented by a separate SECO project supporting the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Decent Work Country Programme of Moldova.
