Strengthening Access to Services for Ukrainian Refugees through Legal Aid

As a right and a precondition for the enjoyment of all human rights, legal aid promotes peaceful and inclusive societies. The project enhances the access to legal services for Ukrainian refugees through a regional approach building local capacities and enhancing cross-border collaboration. The project opens an avenue for Switzerland to contribute to durable solutions and to channel advocacy messages at national and regional level on the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced populations.

Appui aux ménages en situation d’ultra-pauvreté à Belle-Anse, Sud-Est Haiti

Près de 10% de la population haïtienne vit en ultra-pauvreté. Avec sa contribution au programme Chemen lavi Miyò (CLM), la Suisse répond aux besoins humanitaires et de relèvement en appuyant 200 ménages dans le Sud-Est pour les faire sortir de l’ultra-pauvreté. L’approche capitalise sur l’expérience de la Suisse et ses partenaires en Haïti et vise à réduire les inégalités, l’insécurité alimentaire et la vulnérabilité aux catastrophes naturelles.


Swiss contribution to KfW Regional Challenge Fund for the Western Balkans

Switzerland is investing in vocational education and training as well as in labour-market insertion of unemployed youth through all of its bilateral cooperation programs in the Western Balkans. This contribution will allow Switzerland to join forces with Germany in efficiently raising the quality and labor-market orientation of VET offers across the region, while at the same time fostering sustainable partnerships between VET providers and companies for work-based learning.  


Strengthening policy dialogue on DRR & RR of Andean countries

The project aims at strengthening policy dialogue on Disaster Risk Reduction and Rapid Response among Andean countries in particular and within the Latin America countries in general. The participation of SDC’s key partners in DRR and humanitarian events (e.g. the yearly Humanitarian Network and Partnership Week) will facilitate knowledge exchange, experience sharing and increased collaboration within the region. The project will further contribute to this by engaging in knowledge management supporting regional policy dialogue, and by financially contributing to specific events.

Peace Support Facility – FSO Safer Salvage Operation - Yemen

14.11.2022 - 31.12.2024

An oil spill from the Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) tanker “Safer” could occur at any time, discharging up to 1’148’000 mio barrels of crude oil along Yemen’s Red Sea coastline and neighbouring countries, affecting the lives and livelihoods of up to 12 million people. Through this contribution, Switzerland supports the United Nations’ salvage operation to prevent an oil spill in the Red Sea and its potentially disastrous impacts on Yemen and the region. 


Programme Culture et développement en Suisse: Soutien de la DDC aux festivals de cinéma 2023-2026

Film is a cultural expression that sparks debate in societies and therefore contributes to Switzerland’s goals in its partner countries. SDC supports film festivals in order to strengthen film industry in the South and the East. The SDC contribution allows the film festivals Fribourg, Visions du Réel and Winterthur to invest in the exploration of film landscapes, to provide filmmakers with access to professional networks and to learn from each other. It also gives them more visibility in Switzerland, internationally and in their countries of origin.


Skills Development in Kyrgyzstan (SDK)

01.11.2022 - 31.10.2027

The project addresses the needs of youth who already graduated from their formal education, but still miss adequate skills for employment. These needs should be matched by demand of private sector. There will be established and institutionalized an effective up/reskilling mechanism nationwide non-formal Vocational Education Training system in the country. Thus, skilled workforce will successfully support both (future) workers and Micro-, Small- and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Support to WFP under the Grain from Ukraine Initiative

01.11.2022 - 31.12.2023

Through the present contribution Switzerland will support the “Grain from Ukraine Initiative” (GfUI). The initiative was launched by the Government of Ukraine (GoU) in November 2022 in close collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP). Aim of the initiative is to facilitate the delivery by the GoU of 125,000 tons of grain to nations facing widespread food insecurity.

Empowering the Youth to Embrace the Digital Economy and Digital Entrepreneurship

The project aims at empowering young people, especially women, with digital entrepreneurship skills, tools and an enabling environment to increase their employment opportunities and to improve the competitiveness and resilience of youth-led business. It comprises a large-scale digital skills and entrepreneurship training program, business advisory support for youth-led enterprises and the development of innovative solutions for start-ups.


Citizen Engagement for Good Governance, Accountability & the Rule of Law – CEGGA II

01.11.2022 - 31.10.2026

This last phase of the “Citizen Engagement for Good Governance, Accountability & the Rule of Law” project will provide more opportunities for local communities and civil society organizations to engage in the country’s socio-economic development, and to collaborate with the legislature in bringing citizen’s voice and concerns to the local and national executive authorities. Switzerland longstanding experiences in the country are key advantages to work on the rule of law and good governance issues.
