SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.
Junior Professional Officer Programme 2023-2028

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme aims at contributing to a qualified and diverse United Nations workforce by financing Swiss JPOs within Switzerland’s priority UN development organisations and the UN Secretariat. This provides Swiss graduates with an opportunity to start a career in the United Nations while at the same time strengthens the United Nations capacities towards implementing the 2030 Agenda.

The second phase of SORAE will continue to support Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians (R/A/E) on achieving equal human and economic rights. A range of cross sectorial interventions on fighting discrimination, improving housing, increasing school enrolment and employment will improve R/A/E’s socio-economic inclusion – with special focus on children, youth and women.

The Montenegro Acceleration Fund (the Fund) is a pooled funding mechanism that aims to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and, subsidiarily, support the country’s European perspective. Multi-Methods Data Collection Mandate to Monitor the Swiss Cooperation Programme Zimbabwe Zambia 2023-2026

Humanitarian Fund CAR (HF-CAR)

The protracted crisis continues to affect the lives and livelihoods of Central Africans, and more than 50% of the population remains in need of protection and assistance. Core Contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria 2023-2025

The Global Fund collects and channels a big share of international funds to end HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, which mostly affect the poorest and most vulnerable people in low- and middle-income countries. Its support to country programmes has saved 44 million lives since 2002. In the coming years, the challenge is to regain lost ground in the fight against the three diseases and to further strengthening health systems to ensure impact, sustainability, and better preparedness and response to pandemics.

2023 Annual Allocation to WFP Immediate Response Account (IRA)

Against historic levels of food security due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland supports annually operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. Switzerland contributes to the Immediate Response Account (IRA), a multilateral flexible mechanism that allows WFP to provide financial support in underfunded emergencies. The IRA reinforces the principles of timeliness, predictability and flexibility.

The Yemen Humanitarian Fund provides a principled, flexible, timely, and coordinated response towards meeting the most critical and acute needs identified in the Humanitarian Response Plan through the provision of funding for international and national NGOs and UN entities. Switzerland’s multi-year contribution strengthens this instrument more generally and specifically supports its aims to prioritize the hard-to-reach areas, anticipatory action and increased localization of the response.

La région de l’Est du Burkina Faso est affectée par une grave crise sécuritaire et humanitaire qui risque d’annihiler les bons résultats des dernières années sur le plan agropastoral. Aussi, la Suisse veut contribuer à la sauvegarde des acquis de développement tout en renforçant les moyens d'existence des personnes vulnérables touchées par des déplacements. En facilitant leur réinsertion socioéconomique, le programme participe à réduire leur vulnérabilité à l’extrême pauvreté et à l’insécurité alimentaire.
