Evaluating one's own competences and getting to know the world of employment in Romania

The project called "Job Orientation Training in Businesses and Schools (JOBS)" combines two systems: the school system with that of the job market. The programme prepares students in their final year at the classical upper secondary school and those in their first year at vo-tech middle schools to be better able to evaluate their own competences and become acquainted with the real working world. The objective is for the students to thus obtain information on the job opportunities open to them and increase their chances of embarking on the course of professional training that is best suited for them.

Water Programme Aswan, Component 3: Water Efficiency and Economic Support (WEE) in Nasr El Nuba and Kom Ombo

Egypt is a water scarce country and despite recent reforms in the water sector, major challenges remain. Based on needs identified by local authorities and past experiences by the Egyptian-Swiss Development Fund, the programme aims to improve public water supply and management, increase management and income from rehabilitated irrigation systems as well as sensitizing the population about water-related issues.

Humanisation of residence services, Roznov pod Radhostem

The project aims at providing a dignified environment for seniors in the “Aged Persons Home Roznov pod Radhostem” by reconstructing 51 living units, sanitary facilities and by building a new therapeutic room. In addition, qualified social workers will introduce modern methods of individualized work with residents, which will lead to the provision of high quality social services.
 

Enhancing Municipal Responsiveness and Social Accountability of local authorities in the OPT

This programme aims at strengthening Palestinian local authorities’ capacities to perform their mandate through enhancing municipal responsiveness and social accountability in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). This intervention in line with the SDC cooperation strategy for the oPt that aims at contributing to the establishment of a democratic Palestinian State through addressing access and quality of basic services delivered to Palestinian citizens (refugees and non-refugees) and strengthening the Rule of Law.

Making Labour Market Work for Young People in Albania

An estimated 34% of Albania's youth are unemployed or underemployed. The main causes of this situation are low labour demand, ineffective job matching services and lack of skills. Youth employment is a priority and the Swiss-supported project “Making Labour Market work for Young People” - RisiAlbania - responds to this issue by promoting entry into the labour market.

El programa se enfoca hacia el perfeccionamiento de herramientas de gestión local de la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana OHCH, fortaleciendo instrumentos de participación ciudadana en la toma de decisiones y de apoyo a pequeños emprendimientos privados y cooperativos. La experiencia funciona como un laboratorio de prácticas que pueden ser extendidas a la gestión municipal para favorecer el proceso de descentralización y de impulso al desarrollo local en curso en Cuba.

Treatment Plant for Domestic Septage and Industrial Waste in Vati, Limassol

The septage collected by tankers from overflowing absorption pits in some areas Limassol, was disposed in lagoons in Vati area, causing pollution of the water of the Polemidia Dam. The project is expected to close the existing septage reception area which negatively affected the quality of the water dam and the termination of the infiltration of untreated waste to the dam, and construct of a new treatment plant for the domestic septage, industrial waste surplus activated sludge and leachate from the rehabilitation of the uncontrolled landfill.

Improvement of the Police procedures combating financial and economic crime

The project will enhance the capacities and technical environment of the Czech Police to detect and combat financial crimes, violations of customs regulations and money laundering by supporting the exchange of experience with neighbouring countries, improving education and training and providing office and audio-visual equipment of its corruption and financial crime unit.
 

Widening Green Kindergarten and Ecoschool movements

In Hungary only 12 percent of the public educational institutions have the Green Kindergarten / Ecoschool Award. The project supports further educational institutions to get this award. These newly awarded Green Kindergarten and Ecoschools will teach environmental subjects of a high quality and in a systematic way to the children. Hence, the environmental consciousness of chil-dren attending these institutions is increased.
 

GER WASH Project – Sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services in a Ger area of Ulaanbaatar

More than 25% of Mongolia’s population lives in the ger districts of Ulaanbaatar, where access to drinking water is limited and the overall hygienic conditions are bad. The GER WASH Project of Action Contre la Faim will improve access to safe water, sanitation and the knowledge on proper hygiene practices for the population of the Songino Khairkhan district, by strengthening the local authorities, CBOs, as well as the public and private institutions at all levels, and working together with all of them on innovative solutions.

No hay desarrollo sin seguridad

La criminalidad y la inseguridad constituyen un gran desafío para la cooperación al desarrollo en América Central. La situación es particularmente preocupante en Honduras donde la tasa de homicidios se ha duplicado en los últimos 5 años alcanzando una cifra máxima a nivel mundial de 86 homicidios por cada 100.000 habitantes. La fuerte propensión a la violencia no sólo cobra vidas, sino que también socava el desarrollo: en contraste con la tendencia latinoamericana, en Honduras se registra un estancamiento en la reducción de la pobreza y el crecimiento económico es bajo.
