Prevention and management of natural disasters in Miskolc city

Miskolc city has been hardly hit by three important flooding due to heavy rainfall in 2010, leaving behind important damages at watercourses. For this reason, this Project reconstructs and maintains two out of the city’s twelve creeks and completes the drainage system in a low-lying township. 2’700 inhabitants living in the concerned areas will thus be protected from future flooding.

Le Programme Régional d’Education et Formation des Populations Pastorales (PREPP) a été formulé avec des organisations d’éleveurs d’Afrique de l’Ouest ; il vise à satisfaire leurs droit et besoins éducatifs afin de réduire leur marginalisation sociale, politique et économique. Cinq zones transfrontalières sont ciblées tenant compte de: la forte transhumance, l’existence de conflits, l’accès aléatoire à l’éducation et le manque d’appui. La dimension transfrontalière permet d’influencer les politiques éducatives nationales et sous-régionales.

Regional Art and Culture Programme in the South Caucasus

The present project promotes contemporary arts as an open and interactive platform that can display new perspectives and social mechanisms to the audience, and that can support and stimulate South Caucasian artists. It will be implemented by Georgian and international organizations and focuses on contemporary dance and experimental arts; small grants; arts for marginalised communities; and capacity building of arts and culture institutions.

La Banque Mondiale et les Nations Unies sont des partenaires clés pour le développement des pays dits fragiles ou affectés par un conflit. Le Trust Fund « Fragility and Conflict Partnership »contribue à améliorer l’efficacité de l’aide internationale dans les pays dits fragiles, il vise à améliorer la coordination entre la Banque Mondiale et les Nations Unies par le biais de projets concrets et d’initiatives institutionnelles, permettant ainsi de démontrer la valeur ajoutée d’une meilleure coopération entre ces deux institutions, dans ces contextes difficiles.

DINEPA – Qualité de l’eau en milieu rural (post Choléra)

Le programme s’inscrit dans le continuum de transition de l’aide humanitaire vers la coopération régionale pour limiter l’incidence des maladies liées à l’eau pour la population rurale d’Haïti grâce à des services fiables et efficaces et une gestion transparente des systèmes d’approvisionnement en eau ruraux. Pour cela, le programme renforcera les capacités de la Direction Nationale de l’Eau Potable et de l’Assainissement et de ses partenaires directs.

Il terremoto del 12 gennaio del 2010 ha causato ad Haiti danni senza precedenti. Nel sudovest del Paese, regione particolarmente colpita, la DSC aiuta il Ministero dell'istruzione a ricostruire gli edifici scolastici secondo norme architettoniche e antisinistri adeguate. Il programma viene attuato allo scopo di dotare la comunità educativa di modelli di edifici scolastici riconosciuti come conformi e riproducibili dagli operatori del settore.

Improving social protection for Roma in Albania

Albania’s social safety net has to be strengthened so as to address conditions perpetuating poverty and vulnerability among marginalized communities. The current social protection policy focuses mainly on providing financial aid. The Support to Roma Social Inclusion Project, which is implemented by United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), supports a social care reform that addresses the needs of the socially most disadvantaged population.
