Improvisational, yet not stemming from the sources that jazz uses for inspiration (such as blues and swing), Colin Vallon’s extremely original music may sound strange on first hearing. The beautiful, slowly rolling, deeply emotional compositions of the 35-year-old Swiss pianist tend to make a profound impression on their audience. The trio, which he founded in 1999, released its first album, Les Ombres, in 2004. The records that followed (Ailleurs, 2006; Rruga, 2011; Le Vent, 2014) were ever more refined crystallizations of Colin Vallon’s style in composition and performance, simultaneously minimalist and decorative. The concert starts at 9 pm, Wednesday, 15th of April, Opus Jazz club, Mátyás utca 8. You can buy your tickets in advance for 1500 Forint at the BMC or online.
