Cartoons are proven tools for dialogue all over the world. On occasion of the 70 Years of Swiss-Indian Friendship and in the framework of the French Language Week celebrations, the Swiss representations in India bring to you the “Power of Cartoons”, talk-presentation by the award-winning Swiss cartoonist Patrick Chappatte along with an Indian cartoonist. Join us for a candid conversation and interaction.
70 Years of Swiss-Indian Friendship

Patrick Chappatte will talk about the power of cartooning as a tool of dialogue all over the world with a slideshow of some of his best political satire. He will be in conversation with an Indian cartoonist for a candid exchange of similarities, differences, problems, humor and the role of language in sketching world events in both societies. The experts will also engage in a Q&A session with the audience.

About Patrick Chappatte

Patrick Chappatte has been exploring comic journalism since 1995 in print, on the web and on television. He is an editorial cartoonist for The New York Times, as well as for Swiss newspapers Le Temps and NZZ am Sonntag. He is also a pioneer of graphic journalism, or comics journalism, and has developed collaborative projects promoting cartooning as a tool of dialogue all over the world. In 2011 and 2015, Chappatte received the Overseas Press Club of America’s Thomas Nast Award for best cartoons on international affairs.
