Małgorzata Stankiewicz is an artist, poet and a re-searcher, an older sister, a daughter, and an aunt of Baltic-Slavic descent. In her lifework practice, Małgo is curiously drawn to ways of knowing that have been forgotten or erased, intentionally or otherwise, by the predominant Western culture of domination and rationalism. Weaving together performance, poetry, installation and sound, Małgo’s work circulates around the notions of ecology, community, storytelling, symbolism, ritual and meaningful chance, and is deeply informed by her interdisciplinary approach to research and commitment to bringing together hitherto separate threads of knowledge.

Małgo will be on residency in Leh and Ladakh, supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. Upon the invitation of the Embassy of Switzerland in India, and as part of SwitzerlandIndia75 years, she will participate in the sā Ladakh festival in India. At 3600 m, the exhibition is one of South Asia’s highest ever contemporary land art group exhibition, focusing on the theme of mountains, environment, culture and community. Małgo will be conducting a workshop with school kids and also creating a site-specific work in Ladakh.
