Switzerland and India share close and dynamic relations rooted in common democratic values. Switzerland’s traditional policy of neutrality and India’s policy of non-alignment has led to a close understanding between the two countries.
As Switzerland’s envoy to India and Bhutan, my priority will be to strengthen bilateral relationship with them during the next four years by bringing people from different communities such as businesses, science and technology, education, culture, politics, international cooperation together. To serve the Swiss communities in India and Bhutan is another priority. I know that the few last months have been demanding and challenging for most of us. In our current unique and unprecedented circumstances, Switzerland actively supports India and Bhutan, in mitigating the consequences of Covid-19. It is in times like these that solidarity among nations becomes even more important, and I am convinced that our countries' solid friendship will continue to grow.
As we navigate this crisis, the Embassy team is committed to ensuring that its services are delivered efficiently and effectively. We keep our creativity and dynamic drive. The Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi is supported by the Consulates General in Mumbai and Bangalore, Honorary Consuls in Kolkata and Chennai, a Swiss Business Hub in Mumbai, and the swissnex office in Bangalore. As “one Swiss team” we work to promote and deepen the Swiss-Indian friendship.
With Bhutan, I am proud to share that Switzerland has been among the 53 countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations. Since 1985, our friendship with Bhutan has been built on political, economic and cultural ties and today it continues to expand. This partnership is not possible without the support by our Honorary Consul in Thimphu.
