Switzerland and Kyrgyzstan are connected in many ways!
We share a deep appreciation for mountains, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an unwavering belief that international cooperation creates opportunities for people and societies alike.
Swiss companies, investors and entrepreneurs contribute innovation and new technologies to Kyrgyzstan, from centuries-old cheese-making traditions to cutting-edge laboratory processes and systems that verify the origin of commodities. The Embassy supports Swiss companies in navigating Kyrgyzstan’s growing markets. We likewise support Kyrgyz small and medium enterprises to grow their businesses.
Mountains connect our societies. In both our countries, they not only attract visitors but also provide important transport corridors for people, goods, energy and data. Switzerland shares its experience in transforming mountains, which may appear to be obstacles from afar, into corridors of connection.
Travelling connects people. Our consulate provides Schengen visa services each year to thousands of citizens of Kyrgyzstan travelling for leisure or business to Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Our countries are connected through multilateral engagement, from the United Nations and the OSCE to our cooperation at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Together, we work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives of the Kyrgyz National Development Plan 2030. Switzerland contributes funding, expertise and partnerships to promote sustainable economic development, water and energy management, climate resilience, skills development, good governance, and creative arts and culture in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia.
Our commitment to peace and democracy connects us. Switzerland and Kyrgyzstan maintain an open dialogue on human rights, accountable institutions, decentralisation, civic participation and the rule of law.
Since 1991, our two countries have built a partnership based on trust, mutual respect and shared interests. The ties connecting our two countries continue to grow thanks to our excellent bilateral relations.
