Swiss Ambassador confirmed Switzerland’s Permanent Representative to SADC

The Ambassador of Switzerland to Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, H.E Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, has been confirmed as the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) by the regional body’s Executive Secretary, H.E Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax at the SADC Secretariat in Botswana.

Switzerland has been cooperating with the SADC Secretariat since 2005 and has various bilateral agreements with SADC Member States through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on development programmes in the fields of HIV/AIDS and food security.

In her presentation speech following submission of her Letters of Credence, Ambassador Budliger assured the SADC Executive Secretary that Switzerland is open to further cooperation with SADC in various sectors in the political and economic spheres.

Dr. Tax welcomed Ambassador Budliger to SADC, and congratulated her for being the first Swiss diplomat to be accredited as Permanent Representative to the regional body and informed the Ambassador that Switzerland will now be invited to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of SADC Summits.
