Urban Governance for Health and Wellbeing

Rapid and unplanned urbanization leads to poor health. Improving urban governance for health and well-being, and building resilient cities helps to address these challenges. With a strong focus on civic engagement and experience in participative urban development, Switzerland is playing a key role in catalysing action to create healthier urban environments in low- and middle-income countries. 25 mil-lion people in six cities will benefit from improved decision-making processes.


Mobiliser les revenus miniers pour le développement durable et lutter contre la pauvreté (single phase)

La réduction de la pauvreté et la réalisation de l'Agenda 2030 nécessitent une mobilisation sans précédent de fonds privés. Pour les pays en développement riches en minerais, celle-ci passe par un partage juste et équitable des revenus tirés de l’extraction, transformation et commerce de leurs ressources minières. Cette intervention contribue à renforcer l’implication des pays en développement riches en minerais dans les forums multilatéraux grâce à des analyses et propositions de solutions.


UKR East Europe Foundation (EEF) – Building capacity of local CSOs to provide protection services to women and minorities (Capable and Resistant III)

Starting from 2022, Switzerland and East Europe Foundation (EEF) have supported around 40 projects of local humanitarian organizations in implementing protection activities to individuals affected by the war, while at the same time strengthening the organization’s capacities. Under Phase 2, SDC and EEF will support up to 35 additional projects to reach more beneficiaries and continue building the capacities of these NGOs to foster professionalism, principled action, and sustainability.


ARTF: Afghanistan Resilience Trust Fund administered by the World Bank (WB)

The Taliban takeover in August 2021 changed the political landscape and the socio-economic and humanitarian  situation  has  been  deteriorating. Being  a  driver of the former governments’ reform agenda, the ARTF shifted to an off-budget approach in support of over 70 percent of the Afghans with basic services (e.g. health, food security). As ARTF’s donor, Switzerland takes part in strategic decision making and supports the WB in its crucial aid coordination role in nowadays Afghanistan. 


Flexible Emergency and Humanitarian Assistance

After nearly three years of full-scale Russian aggression, Swiss Humanitarian Aid remains committed to supporting vulnerable populations, including IDPs and returnees, in war-affected areas of Ukraine. Through small-scale humanitarian projects and the delivery of Swiss-donated relief items, Switzerland continues to address urgent needs, restore critical infrastructure, and enhance the resilience of affected communities.


PARIS21 Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century Contribution 2025-2026

The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) works with governments, international organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders to strengthen national statistical systems and improve the production, quality, availability, and use of statistics for informed, evidence-based decision making for sustainable development. This is in line with Switzerland’s promotion of reliable statistical data to allow monitoring of development efforts, the use of data for policy making and decisions based on evidence. 


Contribution to Education Cannot Wait Programme Budget 2025-2028

224 million crisis-affected children and adolescents are in need of education support. Education Cannot Wait (ECW) provides education opportunities in emergencies and protracted crises, bridging the gap between humanitarian and development cooperation. Through this partnership with ECW, Switzerland contributes to influencing global agenda setting, strengthening crisis-resilient education systems and affirming International Geneva as a global platform for education in emergencies. 


Supporting Durable Solutions in Sudan: Multi-Year Capacity to Operationalise Solutions

The Durable Solutions (DS) Unit will be established to support collective approaches to DS in Sudan, serving as a shared resource for all stakeholders at both national and regional levels. Operating under the strategic guidance of the Resident Coordinator/ Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/ HC), the DS Unit aims to provide a more structured and effective response to the needs of the affected populations. This initiative aligns with the UN Secretary-General’s Action Agenda and the recommendations from Professor Kaelin’s report. Its primary objective is to systematize and enhance the coordination, advisory, and information-sharing functions led by the RC/HC and the Durable Solutions Working Group.


Core Contribution to Decent Work Alliance 2025 – 2028

Solidar Suisse and Brücke Le Pont are joining forces in the Decent Work Alliance to contribute to an inclusive and sustainable economy and decent jobs in the fight against poverty. Both Alliance partners empha-size Decent Work (SDG 8), carving a unique niche in Swiss international cooperation. Due to their trade union background, the Alliance partners can credibly access sections of the Swiss population that are difficult to reach for other actors, to strengthen their understanding for international cooperation.


Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV)

Malaria treatment is an urgent need that requires the development of affordable and accessible medicines for low-income regions. The Geneva-based Medicines for Malaria Venture product development partnership leads efforts for new antimalarial treatments. This work is in line with Swiss values of collaboration and innovation, contributing to equitable access to quality medicines for vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women.


Core Contribution to HEKS/EPER 2025-28

HEKS/EPER, through an extensive network of partners, engages in inclusion, equal rights, peacebuilding, and resilience by empowering people to overcome disparities and reduce poverty. The main focus is on the right and access to land and resources and their sustainable management, the right to food, agro-ecological production, inclusive markets, and climate justice and adaptation for improved resilience. Increasingly well anchored in humanitarian aid, HEKS/EPER provides emergency assistance.

Fondation Terre des hommes is an independent, neutral and impartial Swiss organisation dedicated to ensure meaningfula nd lastingc hanges in the lives of childrena nd young people, particularlyt hose most at risk. It works in 26 countries, including in fragile and conflict settings, linking humanitarian response with development and peace promotion. Its focus on maternal and child health, children and young people on the move, and access to child friendly justice is very relevant for the implementation of the Swiss IC strategy 25-28.
