Contesto |
Congestion and pollution, once problems of large conurbations, have come to be daily issues in medium-sized cities of Indonesia. Public transport services are insufficient, fragmented and often of poor quality as a result of unclear legal frameworks, weak institutional capacities and insufficient investments. Transport is estimated to generate 23% of the green house gas (GHG) emissions of Indonesia’s energy sector. Hence, inaction in this field not only burdens urban living conditions and economic functionality of cities, but also hampers Indonesia’s ability to fulfil its climate mitigation goals. |
