Strenghtening Small Business Membership Organisations

The business climate in Ukraine is severely hampered by an over-bearing and opaque regulatory framework and captured by powerful political and economic elites. Corruption is widespread and the economy dominated by large monopolies, often state owned. The current transition is an opportunity to break with past practices and to provide more competition and equitable participation in economic opportunities for the SME sector. The project therefore aims to support Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in order to provide a collective voice to small businesses, to improve the regulatory environment through a public-private dialogue and to support their members in improving their operational performance.


Residential Energy Efficiency in Ukraine, Phase II

The project supports the creation of an effective legal and institutional framework for Ukrainian homeowners' associations to get access to finance for the purpose of energy efficiency modernization of the country's existing multi-family housing stock. It is implemented by the International Financial Corporation (IFC).


Energy Efficiency Zhytomyr, Ukraine

The project aims at improving the municipal infrastructure and its energy efficiency. To do so, the district heating network will be rehabilitated, capacity will be built and the awareness about energy efficiency and renewable energy will be raised. The project will accompany Zhytomyr on its way to becoming an energy-efficient city.

Organic Market Development

This project is a follow up of the project "organic certification and market development" which laid the ground for introducing organic farming in Ukraine which was inexistent when SECO started its work in 2007.

The project aims at strengthening the competitiveness of Ukraine's organic agricultural sector by 1) increasing the quality and trade volume of selected organic arable crops from small and medium sized farms for export, 2) increasing the quality and trade volume of organic dairy products from small and medium sized farms for the domestic market, and 3) developing a trademark for regional food products and tourism for the Carpathians, 4) improving commercial organic services, and 5) fostering a conducive environment for the development of the organic sector. It is being implemented by the Swiss Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FiBL), in cooperation with the stakeholders of the organic sector in Ukraine.
