Every day we see images of people who fled their homeland, only to tragically lose their lives. But what does it mean to be forced to abandon your home, work, family and country? The exhibition "Displaced" allows visitors to put themselves in the shoes of refugees and to get some idea of what it is like to be forced to flee one's home.

To mark this year’s Human Rights Day on 10 December 2016, the FDFA’s Human Security Division is holding a film evening and panel discussion on the role of human rights in preventing violent extremism. The event is being organised together with the Human Rights Film Festival Zurich.
On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which takes place every year on 25 November, the SDC and the Embassy of Canada in Switzerland are holding a panel discussion which will be open to the public.
Research and innovation are important factors in reducing poverty and global risks and securing global public goods. The 2nd Research Fair provides information about research as a contributor to the Sustainable Development Goals.

From 8 to 13 November 2016, the 20th edition of the “Internationale Kurzfilmtage, The Short Film Festival of Switzerland”, will be held in Winterthur. Film-makers will be invited from all over the world to present a wide variety of short films.

Forum cinfo 2016, which will take place on 28 October 2016, provides both experienced and entry-level professionals the opportunity to meet and talk face-to-face with federal partners, NGOs, representatives of UN organisations, international financial institutions, further education and training providers, foundations and the private sector.
Politicians and representatives from Federal Administration offices will discuss the question 'Is cooperation with Eastern Europe still necessary and relevant?' in a debate to be held at Eventforum Bern.

World cuisine gives us a taste of the SDC’s work around the globe. At the next Comptoir Suisse in Lausanne, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will offer visitors typical culinary specialities from the countries where it works to improve living conditions for local people.

The Zürcher Theater Spektakel gives artists from the South and from the East the opportunity to present their productions to a Swiss audience and forge professional contacts. The SDC supports the festival as part of its cultural activities.

The 69th Locarno International Film Festival is taking place this August. The SDC is supporting the festival's Open Doors section which promotes film-makers from the South and East and helps with the production and distribution of independent feature films.

Discrimination and exclusion are human rights challenges at the core of sustainable development. These need to be overcome for the 2030 agenda’s central promise of «leaving no one behind» to be realised.
Think tank NORRAG and the SDC's Education Network are organising a conference on global governance in basic education and vocational training. It will be held on 22 June 2016 and is open to the public.
