Its mandate comprises:
- Implementation of the SDC guidance for engagement with Swiss NGOs (programme contributions)
- Eligibility clearance
- Approval and resource allocation
- Monitoring of SDC programme contributions to Swiss NGOs
- Negotiating and monitoring of the SDC's contribution to promoting education for sustainable development in Switzerland
- Exchange with the cantons and communes on development cooperation issues
