UN and Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs)

The UN and Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) Section is the dedicated unit for dialogue with the principal UN bodies and the international financial institutions. It coordinates the SDC's institutional multilateral cooperation with the UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UN Women, the World Bank, the regional development banks and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

The UN and Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) Section

  • manages Switzerland's core contributions to the following nine priority organisations: World Bank Group (IBRD, IDA, IFC, MIGA), African Development Bank (AfDB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women;
  • fosters political dialogue with these organisations with a focus on fragility, gender, private sector development and anti-corruption, in addition to results orientation and reform of the UN's operational development system;
  • represents Switzerland in development policy matters at conferences and summits;
  • supports the other SDC organisational units in their multilateral tasks.
